Default Associated Shock Question

I've recently acquired a BJ4WE which is 2nd hand (used).

I started out in racing last year summer with a B4.

I upgraded the B4 (from RTR) with a few small minor tweaks and add-ons, and I race at the local tracks (www.sidsraceway.com - dirt offroad & www.fastcats.ca - carpet offroad).

Anyhow, I haven't yet done much to the BJ4 because frankly it didn't need anything. Between it not seeing much racing, and sitting on a shelf, it only just now received a shock-rebuild. While I was doing the BJ4 shock-rebuild, I decided to also do the B4. While doing this I noticed that the shock bodies for the two cars are different lengths, yet in the manuals the part numbers are supposed to be the same.

How is it that my B4 and BJ4 have front shocks that are not the same, and same goes for the rear shocks. I figured that I would be able to put them side-by-side and have them match up (given that the listed part numbers are the same for each vehicle).

The BJ4 appears to have smaller shocks than the B4. Is this some sort of upgrade that I am unaware of (that the previous owner did)?

Or are the shocks (threaded) that I purchased for the B4 not the correct shocks (purchased from the LHS and was told that they were the correct ones, and the part number matched up)?

Any ideas or thoughts?

I would double check the parts you got from the shop to make sure the part numbers match the ones listed above.

Parts were numbered as per Associated manuals.

Are the numbers you posted the actual dimension (length)?
