Total Newbie battery question

Be nice to the newbie here...

My son has a Duratrax Evader EXT with two Venom 1800mah NiCD batteries. The batteries really do not last very long and I want to get him some better ones. His buddy has a Venom 3000mah NiMH that is black that seems to last much longer and not lose power as quickly. I have seen black and green batteries with the same amperage. Is there a difference between the Venom black and green batteries?

What is the best battery to use? The green Venom 3600mah NiMH is $30, that is about what I can spend.

Thanks,

Mike.

I would just pick up some more of the 1800s. The brushed motors that these cars use are not really designed to run for more then 6 minutes w/out cooling off for a few minutes. I would just run the 1800s & switch them out. If you bring 4 of the 1800s out you can spend a good bit of time running the car any ways.

1800 is kind of low in capacity especially when people are running 4200-4600.

You may want to buy some nice used matched 3800 side by side for about $15-$20. Just look in the for sale section.
