What would you reccommend a starting gearing for a B4 with a brushless 8.5?

The AE team(with the LRP motors) have been trying new gearing combo's. Just ran this at the Winterchamps in Columbus.

B4 w/7.5 24/81

B44 w/ 7.5 25/78

I'm not sure about Novak stuff, but I hope that this helps.

I had started out with a 25, and ended up dropping to a 23, and it seems to work really well. I was as fast as anything else on the track and the esc ran cool.

When i ran i used a 25/81 gearing for the 13.5. On an about 95x55 layout.

I run a 25/81 as well plenty of power. I started with 26/81 and did not have any overheating issues, but when I added a little weight it just did not have the same punch so I ended up at 25. Good torque and plenty of top speed, although on our track your never on the throttle for more then 2 seconds.

A 23/81 is perfect.

Novak GTB 6.5R / 5500 mAh LiPo / 22:84?

Runs so cool (maybe 99° F) and spins up so fast I am considering 24:84? Geared down today to 18:84 and was slow, but very drivable/predictable. -- I did not notice the increase torque at all w/ this ratio. I think because at 22:84 I still spin the tires punching it anywhere in the powerband.

What would you do?

I've seen many of the top drivers running 26:78 in their BJ4s and B44s w/ 7.5R motors. So it seems I have a lot of headroom to work with as heating is just a non-issue for me.

This car is just so incredible.
