gearing for b44 brushless
i want to get a 3.5 brushless from novak and i am wondering what gearing i should put in it
thanks peter |
3.5 is too hot for offroad, if u must, then start with a 16t

According to Novak, here at their site
http://www.teamnovak.com/tech_info/b...r_gearing.html They do not recommend a 3.5 for 4wd. Now, you could go with a 4.5 and follow their recommendation of a 17 or a 18 . Their formula (spur/pinion) x internal drive ratio = FDR they recommend a FDR of 12 , a 17 pinion will give you 12.35 and a 18 will give you a 11.67 . I have found they are pretty close, with this formual and their chart. Good luck. |
Why keep making new threads everytime you need to ask something about the B44?
Just post here http://rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=171866&page=49, thats what the threads for. |
3.5 is by far way to much motor for any thing off road. You will be so pissed at your self for wasting $80 on a motor that you will not be able to do anything with. 5.5 is the lowest turn motor that Associated is recomending, at least that I can see.
As for the 4.5, Personally I still think it is way to hot and it will still overpower the b44. Slower is faster 9 times out of 10 especially when your teetering on the fine line of motor overkill. Just my .02 |
Too Fast
I was running a Novak 4.5R system in my before, running 87 / 16 equalling FDR 13.6:1 and I melted the GTB.
|
I ran a 5.5 geared 21/78 and its STUPID FAST, going to get a 6.5 or 7.5:rolleyes:
|
Running a 6.5 with a 19 and stock spur
|
I wouldn't go under a 6.5 for 4wd off-road.
