yes I have 6,5 in revo and have run 30 min with no problems. I have the 4,5 also but it kills the batteries real fast.

i really like the 6.5 system but it just thermals too easily in race conditions. i dont blame novak for that, remember they originally made it for a monster truck and with all the air it gets with the truck body it works great.

now the new systems they are introducing is another story, if they still thermal with their new motor mount system then its their fault since they are marketing them specificly for 1/8 use.
Curious about that. I am thinking that with Less voltage, hence keeping your temp down, you can gear up to gain back speed.

If any has tried it, would be interesting to see none the less.

yes if i took 25% of the voltage away it would run cooler with the same gearing. but as soon as i would try to gear it up to make up for the difference it would most likely just put strain on the system and thermal again.
plus the novak system just dosent have the massive torque that the nue motors have so i dought i could gear it back to the same speed without killing the bottom end.
this is the same problem the mod touring cars have had since going to 5 cells. to get the cars back up to speed they just kept throwing a bigger pinion at it and then the motors started to fry from the strain.

the gtb will only run sensored motors, a feigao 9xl is sensorless.

Default New information on Teamnovak's site

With Novak releasing the assembly instructions and more as built photos, any comments from folks who have built similar cars? Thanks

I made my own conversion on an ancient GS Storm that used to be a Fine Design car. The motor is mounted over the center drive shaft and has battery trays on each side of the chassis. I have run it in two races and about 10-12 [pair of] packs total.

We haven't had real hot weather yet, but the motor (a 6.5 with the 5MM shaft conversion) hasn't gotten real hot (maybe 120?). The speed control was getting pretty hot before I added the fan but is now holding around 140 to 150 after a 10 minute run. It actually may be a little more than that - I can't temp it until I get the body off and it takes a minute or so to get to the car and turn off the switch after a run and the fan takes the temperature down pretty fast.

I'm geared 9-46 (yes: NINE to 46) with the standard GS Storm diff ratio of 3.31 (or so). I am right about even speed-wise with the good nitros while still running NiMH batteries but this is a very short track. I feel pretty certain I will be faster with LiPos if for no other reason than the elimination of 3/4 pound of weight from the NiMH packs. The RTR weight with the NiMH packs is over 9 pounds.

Everybody that has seen the car thinks it is pretty good but I am sure when I get my 8ight/Neu/Lipo conversion done it will blow away this car. I figure I could gear up and go a little faster, but would be concerned about ESC temperatures. Maybe I'll try it an see what happens.

Default You have it wrong!

More voltage equals less current draw and less heat! The whole point of running 5s or 6s is to bring down the current draw. That is what generates the heat. Higher voltage systems use their energy more efficiently.

i am thinking i want the 7.5 but have heard it doesnt have as much punch/torque as the 6.5 , i plan on racing this and am hoping for some info , runtime , temps. , thoughts , etc.....
