get the lower shock cartridge for the rb5 and use them with the right bushing in between the o-rings. that is a common problem with that model zx5 the new SP has the rb5 cartridges already

I never had issues with the ZX5 shocks. Still running the kit shocks with the original o-rings. I will admit I am running the x-groove o-rings though. ORG03X. I also use green slime on the o-rings when I build them. I would get the clear ones and not the orange ones. We have noticed the orange ones swell over time. The work great and are durable but after about 6 months they need to be replaced. I would try this before you spend the money on all new cartridges.

You might want to try some new shafts as well. My original shocks were great for a long time, but when they did start leaking, new "X-rings" (the clear ones) didn't help a bit.

I never really noticed it, but when I compared the new shafts in the conversion set to the shafts on my car...mine were pretty thrashed by comparison. They were very worn and rough where the o-rings ride.

I got my ZX-5 used and got the RB5 cartridges, but 2 still leaked, I found that the top oring (under the cap) had flattened out and it was leaking from there as well, just one more thing to check.

Good point Joe. the o-rings will only seal to a smooth surface. If your shafts are scratched it will let oil through and tear up your o-rings all at the same time.

The shaft seem to be in good shape. the buggy is in pretty good shape and run only at socal.

I went to Ultimate, some guy there gave me the complete shock rebuilt kit only good for two shocks. Will have to go there again later to get the o ring kit. All 4 of my shocks leak.

I run at socal, Anywhere near there that carries Kyosho parts?

Speed tech has moved to San Gabriel but he does usualy have what you need for your ZX-5 or RB-5. And yes he did get a big shipment in but you better hurry because the Kayosho stuff moves fast.
