Reedy 4200's

Whats your thoughts on these batts.I am thinking of running them this season.

racenut123 10-22-2007 06:38 AM

They are IB's......Just say no.

bus driver 10-22-2007 06:40 AM

Thats what I run are ib's.

racenut123 10-22-2007 06:44 AM

good luck then. Most of the Major matchers, including the importer of these cells are looking to get away from then. If you like IB cells, then go for it.Otherwise the EP cell is a little less finicky or should I say dangerous.

BuggyKing 10-22-2007 08:47 AM

Im not to crazy on IB battery packs. To many horror stories with them.

Whats the diference between the two?

mafiaracers 10-22-2007 10:19 AM

um...one has had a tendancy to go "kaboom" and the other is "supposed" to not do that anymnore.

d4man 10-22-2007 11:04 AM

What these guys mean is that the IB 4200's vent and overheat very easily.

The new EP4200's aren't supposed to be as fragile.

racenut123 10-22-2007 11:11 AM

What I really mean is they EXPLODE...When it happens as much as I see it,I find this unacceptable. This is not under extreme circumstances either.

air8 10-22-2007 11:18 AM

EXPLODE is right. Happened right next to my friends. My buddy put his IB42000 on the Indi dishcarger. Started cleaning working on his truck. Dishcarger finished. He disconnected the batter and set it on his towel to cool. Few minutes later KAPOW! Pieces falling from the ceiling and then the camera phones started going crazy. Looked like some one had built a firecracker pack not a battery pack. Every cell was toast but I don't know if one cell caused the other to errupt or they all chain reacted or something.

d4man 10-22-2007 11:31 AM

Good grief!!!!

We had one let go two Saturday nights ago. Not a pretty thing.

I bought ten new packs and less than 3 months later none is stable, you never know what results you will get when you charge, and run time is poor. These were charged according to matchers specs, discharged, and trayed and still went south. I am running my old 3800s now and they still work fine.

bus drivers going reedy???? im in.......

air8 10-22-2007 11:50 AM

I thought my buddy had done somehting wrong. He's been racing about as long as me but he doesn't get into like the rest of us. So I bought a pre-assembled side x side and used it for a few weeks before a cell died on me. I figured they have that all taken care of by now. But I bought this IB about two months ago. And in mod buggy i was noticing the pack was lacking punch. Sure enough. I was running on 5 cells. Still fast with it though. But when I'd put the EP42000 I really had to hang on.

bus driver 10-22-2007 03:10 PM

Going with ep's instead thanks guys.
