David... I run 2wd also.. you are right.. but in 4wd.. the acceleration is there regardless... it's more about control around corners and not making it twitchy due to moving the axis of the weight.. and having the tires further apart.. 4wd is weird compared to 2wd.. but you are correct.. the weight being behind or in front is just not as important in 1/8..

So is it the short wheelbase when there is a spacer in the front and rear and or both inbehind the upright on the MBX5?

Warpig- i dont think anyone can dispute Doug's skills

kreidel- short wheelbase is when both spacers are behind the hub. long is when both spacers are in front of the hub.

hiya all mugeners!
i have a older mbx5 and am thinking of purchasing the new upper arm mounts, new lower arms and new rear upper arm links.
i believe it gives the front more caster and the rear more clearance.
has anyone used these mods or the prospec buggy and what are your thoughts abt them?
what kind of track condition do these mods favour? rough or smooth tracks?

The new rear upper links are supposed to allow for wheel clearance at max down travel. I've been using a set of Ofna dish wheels with the non-upgraded upper links and haven't needed to change it. I think the front end parts you're refering to are upper arms that sweep forward more. This causes a decrease in front caster which makes the car turn in more aggressively at the corner entry and they also allow for fine adjustment of caster throught the use of shims on the inner hinge pin.

whats the difference between prolines crowd pleazer and crowd pleazer 2.0 body? Anyone tried these bodies? Someone said before here that crowd pleazer (old one) body touches the brake/throttle linkages, right?

2.0 design is much lower "volume" makes the car much sleeker lookiing. There is a few good pic's on NEOBUGGY.NET of Chad Bradley's buggy with the new body.

i thought the new arm was a front lower arm that is angled forward, and coupled with the new upper arm brace that allows a further 2 mm shift to the rear? should allow for more caster, innit?
or i could be wrong..hyuk

and yeah, the new 2.0 body from proline does look pretty sleek on a mbx5, but looks just weird on a mp777... the nose is just HUGE ASS!

You are probably right about the arm setup. I thought it was the other way around. I've got a stock MBX5 and I bought it from another guy that never finished it so I don't know if I have the latest arms or not. Seems to get around the track really well though.

personally i prefer the stock mugen body................. proline ones break around the nose area to easily

The small hole is so the brake linkage doesn't touch inside the body. Mark Pavidis said that the body was going to re-tool slightly before release so I bet that is one of the small changes.
Mugen9112, are you refering to the original Crowdpleazer? That's good to know.

Hey what up dudes? I'm looking to get a MBX5 for my first 1/8th scale ride. What, if any, parts or mods are recommended for the car as it comes from the box? Any set-up tips to share? I can't wait to join the ranks of proud MBX5 owners!
