Default Rustler big bore size.......

I'm thinking about upgrading my shocks on my Rustler VXL. I've been reading back threads and I found one suggestion to run big bore XXLs in back and XLs in front.

I found another that said XLs in back and Ls in front.

For you guys who have converted, what's your guidance?

thanks

Is there a trade off between XL and Ls for the front?

I don't think there is, it is just preference. The ultra-shocks (plastic) that are on the front of the truck are longs. Some people want alittle extra shock travel. They put big MT tires on their truck and pile on the preloads to make the truck taller.

Since I popped another shock cap today, I dropped by my LHS and picked up the XXL rear shocks. He was out of the fronts but they'll be in Wednesday so I'll just rune the stocks on the front until then.

One of the small washers that go behind the shock was chewed up so now I'll have to get another hopefully tomorrow.

The old plastic shocks appear to go on one specific way on the bottom because it's different sizes on both sides where the screw goes through. The new BB shocks appear to be uniform on both sides so I'm guessing it doesn't matter which way you install them. Sound right??

thanks

If you were having troubles with the caps popping off. You could have saved some money and just ordered big bore caps. They fit on the stock shocks and that would end your popping caps. BB Caps

The Big Bores come with ball ends pre-installed on the shock ends, where the VXL has them on the screw. Just remove the ball end from the screw. or swap the shock ends.

Building Shocks About half way down for the shock oil
