gtb spread spektrum in a FT B4 ?????
i have purchased 1 of these gtb spread spektrum 2.4 ghz ESC's for my factory team b4 and was wandering where people using this have placed it in the chassis and how have they modified the body to fit it in, because it doesnt fit under the shell, it needs a hole cut in it, but then i want to re-cover it up, so looking for some ideas, someone must have the same set-up, show me some pics if your out there. Also what the hell is " schottky", it tells me i dont need this when using brushless. ???????

In the B4/T4 thread people remove the fan and mount it on the chassis blowing across the ESC (airflow-front to back). Tape/glue/shoe goo. I don't run a fan with my 6.5. If I start thermalling sometime I might put the fan to blow across the ESC like I have seen pictures of in that thread.

Hey Simba. What motor are you running? As Air 8 put it, you might not need the fan at all...

I would suggest a fan. Even if you are not thermalling, it is always better to run at a lower temperature. It will increase the life of your GTB, increase efficiency, and there are just no negatives. I use the black Novak fan, mounted in front of the GTB and mount it with Shoe Goo/Automotive Goo. Also, when doing this, be sure to mount the GTB so the air can flow through the fins of the heatsink.
As for the Schottky, if you don't know what it is, then you probably aren't running one...

Yeah, That'd be ok. try to position the ESC so the fan is blowing air between the fins. I have the 13.5ss pro in my truck. A friend broke three blades on his fan in stock truck. I decided to take my fan off and use it when I got to mod buggy. But still don't use it there. The esc in my truck usually temps at 115-120 degrees when I temp it. The GTB is very tough and in the 104 degree building it never thermalled on me. But the fan will be extra insurance.

If you drive your B4 in a clean environment, it might be wise to pick up the JConcepts body with the raised sides/scoops and Dremel away the front face of the scoop to allow more air inside to cool the ESC. That way it has a cleaner look rather than a big hole in the top of your current body.

Here is another idea is to add scoops to any body with this from Blue Groove RC Concepts: http://www.bluegrooveconcepts.com/ca...oduct_id=29833
I am going to use this on my B44 body with the Novak GTB ESC.

I just ordered the scoop maker from Blue Groove RC Concepts to see if the GTB fan will fit in one of these scoops.
