Default T3 Vs. T4

I'm somewhat new to the whole ST thing. I had an all graphite t3 that i traded to a friend, messed up big time because i want one again. What would be the best for bashing and racing? I've heard the t3 is a bit more strong so it would be better for bashing. Both will run a 27t stock motor.

I'd go with the T4 due to parts support. The T3 won't be THAT much stronger, and you may have a hard time replacing stuff when it DOES break.
Now maybe you already have a good supply of T3 parts. In this case you could probably save yourself a few bucks by finding another used T3 online. And I've heard that they can still be fairly competitive in a race.

I'm still racing my T3 and have parts from purchasing another T3 just for parts. Still a great truck.

iam running a t3, no problem finding parts, either my lhs has them or ebay within two days, i did buy a mint condition t3 of a friend just for parts though. ive never ran a t4, but i do run with them, not a whloe lot of difference in handeling IMO.

Main thing I noticed when going from a T3 to a T4 was how much flatter the truck would corner. T3 still a great vehicle however.

having experience with both trucks if your bashing id suggest sticking with the t3... its a much more durable truck and still a competitor on race day.

if you can get parts .. t3..
if you cant .. t4

i heard thunder tiger released a exact copy of the t3.. so the parts should be the same..

Now that you mention it, that TT truck may be a T3. The reason for my thinking this is because when they announced the buggy it noted that B4 parts were interchangeable. But when they announced the truck there was no mention of compatibility with the T4. Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

I had a chance this summer to check out the TT and it is a blatant re-issue of the T3. Some of the parts have been cheapened-down (plastic shock bodies come to mind, but otherwise it's a T3. Also the plastic used may be different grade, not sure on that one though.

Joke up here in Canada is that the wholesale price on these trucks RTR is about $80 Cdn. Cheap enough to buy, sell the electronics, and use for T3 spare parts.

t4, end of story, atleast compare something up-to-date please...

you can get a factory team t4 on here for like $130-$160...with some parts and other stuff...

i wouldn't be surprised to see alot more coming up in the next while, if kyosho comes out with their truck, i think ill even have to trade in for kyosho truck and buggys

Default T3

I'm back into R/C after 15 yrs out. i have a T3 and it seems to work well on our local outdoor track. If I could have one thing different it would be a little less steering and more rear grip. I have changed the set up several times and here's what i have

green springs all around
#2 piston in front with 30 wt oil
o deg camber
0 deg toe-in
camber link set to shortest distance

rear shocks green springs
#3 pistons with 40 wt oil
slightly lower than lever dog bones
middle hole on top shock tower.

GTB with 13.5 26 pinion, 78 spur

Ifmar step pins on back ( worked a little better than bowtie's)
stock front ribs.

the truck is decent until i try the ss 5800 with same set up , except a 20 pinion)

Any suggestions on a better set up for more rear grip /

thanks

Mike

Also his truck isn't lose, as it has rear end grip, it's just that it wants to make a 180* turn at full throttle.

I personally like the way your truck handles, but I could see where a little less steering would help (I would love to have my T4 handle like that once I figure out why it keeps nose diving).

Default T3

ok, who are you ? I guess you run at embassy too ?

like i said the truck is pretty good, but I just think it's still a touch off. My main area of concern is the initial 3 feet after the 180 deg turn. i can hardly get into the throttle or the truck is fish tailing .

I helped Plensch with his nose diving T 4, just a slight shock adjustment on both ends. IMO, his truck seems WAY more planted than mine .
