team orion vortex brushless motors
 

i was curious to see how these motors perform. I'm hoping to make the switch to brushless soon, and was wondering if there is an advantage to these motors over the standard or sintered novak motors.

I'll have to find out if there in production.

I have been running for Orion for about 3 years. I have been running the RC Edition V2 Motors and switched over to the Brushless Vortex about 3 weeks ago and I love it! The power is incredible, maintnence free, and smooth braking. I am lovin' them big time!

I like the concept of enclosing a fan within the motor itself. I am going mod very soon and will definitely check these out.

That's awesome! I have a T4 also...and I want to run an Orion vortex. Anybody know if the Vortex 7.5 or 6.5 is comparable to the novaks or LRP's in terms of RPM?

Brad the orion motor is the best for the buck if you ask me it comes with a sintered rotor and runs very cool. The LRP has a bonded rotor and the novak is down on low end power im opinion.

My friend rich whom i race with got a noisy one where the fan would rub on something, someone might have gotten a noisy one too, not sure. Everybody else seemed to get good ones. i am looking to getting this set-up but i am weary after hearing this motor run. sounded like a stipped spur going down the track.

After driving brushless it feels different in 2wd but not so much in 4wd to me. Very smooth and not as punchy but very free rolling smooth. I think i liked it cause i like my car free rolling and smooth. i have bever tried the novak only the lrp sphere.

I'll let you know in about a week, I was running the Vector, but I'll be swtiching over to Orion and the Vortex. :D

Thanks guys...I was running the mamba max 5700 all year....a TON and i blew out the bearings in the motor. I'm just ready for a change I think. Orion seems to be a great company so I think I will try it out. I will take my chances on the fan, which i think is a great idea because if a motor gets too hot the magnets lose strength and there goes your power. It's nice to be able to run it sensorless too. One thing I do know is I will not go back to brushed. I ran the crap out of that motor all year (below freezing, snow, 95 and humid) and if you can stand the noise of broken bearings (or get new ones once in a great while) a bl motor could run for many moons.

Im sure you'll be satisfied with your decision. I cant wait to see how much cooler the Orion motor is with the fan inside. Besides, it just looks sweet, being solid black. :p
