Default Smoke in fuel tank

My friend Cayce is new to the NItro world and there was smoke in his fuel tank after he ran his truck out of fuel. I told him that that is normal and it is from the pressure line thing. He didnt believe me. will some please tell me if this is normal?

Thanks.
