That happened to me last week. I called up Traxxas (I bought the ESC used, but it was in like new condition) and told them that it was out of warranty. They told me to send it in with a check for $45 and it would get fixed or replaced. I asked them why I would have to pay to have it fixed when it is a known design flaw of the ESC's before they were redesigned? He then told me to go ahead and send it in without payment, and a note stating what I told him and that they would make a determination when they received it if they were going to charge me or not.

I called yesterday, and they said the ESC's were on backorder but that a new one would be shipping to me in a few days. Traxxas pulling through with their great customer service once again! Hope this helps.

I've geared mine at 23 tooth pinion and had no problems. I hit around 55 km/h with a 6 cell 4200 mah nimh battery. The temps seem normal.

Default Velineon 3500 Brushless

I Run a Rustler, added the New Velineon, using a 4000 Nimh and its been great. I changed to a 5000mah lipo 3s 11.1 volt and its a rocket !!!
We clocked it with a baseball speed gun, it was doing 71 mph across the beam. weather you just go out and bash around or race its one of the best I have used in 10 years.
I have to gear up to slow it down. wheelie bars help a little.

....keep in mind that the Velineon motor is a 3500kv 550 series motor, not a 540 like eveything else that I see being compared to it. It's probably comparable to a Novak 10.5. It's a good system that generates a lot of torque. I never had one until it came in my Slash 4x4. I like the VXL system very much.

Default vxl

I have ran the velineon in every thing from a monster, stadium, slash, bandit and even my jrxs touring car. Its simple and reliable. Traxxas claims it is 13.5 turn.

Has anyone run the VXL system on touring car> Will the motor fit with HPI Sprint 2?

I thought Traxxas said 10 turn? Totally agree: simple and reliable.

The Velineon system features a 3500kV motor. The MM as you know start at 4600kV and go as high as 7700kV. So you will need a higher voltage lipo to get the traxxas system to the same speed as a MM on lower voltage. For example a 7700 running on a $75 2s lipo will still be spinning faster than the Velineon system on a $150 4s lipo. So the battery will make that system probably cost more. I bought my MM system from pfmdistribution.com for $150, there are deals out there like that. Given the the MM esc is more versitile and can be used with a host of other motors, I would still probably suggest picking one up. Just look around for a good price. But if you are set on the Traxxas system it appears to be quite solid and will still be very quick. Just know that the batteries will weigh your car down more and may even up the costs. Hope that helps.

Great Info ! I had a full Velineon system in my Slash and the ESC had started to have issues so I replaced it with a CC Sidewinder and still run the VXL motor and its a great Combo, and it has a REAL LVC ! and I can fine tune the ESC also The only down fall for a basher is its not waterproof but both of my slash's see an Indoor Clay track so we dont need to worry about H20

Has anyone tried to run a 7700 Mamba motor w/Mamba Pro ESC,3s Lipo in a Slash?; OE was a 4600 motor.

Default ESC

I've ran the heck out of my 1/16 E-REVO and have had no problems so far. But if I did I think I would still go with the same esc because I love running it in the rain and through puddles.

13.5 is what they told me but I've had traxxas reps that had know idea what they were talking about so it could have been a guess

The 1/16 E-Revo is a different motor and esc. v3m esc and 3300 motor so it doesn't compare to the 3500 with the v3s.

Traxxas says the 3500 is in line with a 10 turn motor not a 13.5.

Thanks Hoodala! That's what I thought. Traxxas says the 3500 is in line with a 10 turn motor not a 13.5.
