How important is a schottky diode
I was wondering if anyone knew how important it is to use a schottky diode in a high performance ESC. I want to get one ASAP, but will i damage my ESC if i go without one for a few days.
Thanks

Most escs will come with a schottky diode. Even if it doesn't, I highly doubt it will damage the esc.

It is really more of a drivers preference if you want to run one or not. Basically using a shotky diode on the motor will increase braking. Depending on the track conditions, I have run up to 4 shotky diodes on my motors. It wont hurt anything if you decide not to run it though.

Great than i'll keep running it without the diode. I was just worried when i put on the brakes that i might damage it after a while.

So don't bother with the diode at all?

A schottky will also help battery regeneration, and so basically you will have a longer run time.

If you dont run a shottky diode you might overheat and damage your brake transistors in your speedo.
If you are running a GM speedo you must use a shottky, if you dont your brake will be gone faaast.. (did it to 2 gm speedos..never again)

They are all the same, just buy the brand that offers the cheapest diodes...
GM has a stronger type , looks like a transistor. Have never tried it myself, but i have heard that its good (over 2 times stronger than a standard shottky)

I have no idea...
Just buy a standard shottky and use that, you should be able to get one in any hobbyshop

I thought the same thing until i called four local hobby shops and not one of them carried any. They pretty much deal almost all nitro. No bid deal i'll just get one of tower by novak.
