20 minute mains lipo guys, no buggies?
 

Hey guys, curious, does anyone do the lipo brushless long main thing with 2wd or 4wd buggies?

I havent seen nor heard of anyone running buggies.... I'd love to find somewhere semi local running them. I have a hard enough time finding anything 1/10th electric anywhere in VA

When we have enough, we do 13.5/lipo 8 min. races. Most everyone is running the Orion carbon packs and 10 min. seems to be a little much.

We are doing 10 and 15 min with electric 1/8th scale buggies.

Craps - I had been planning on it for months, but one of my best friends just had his overseas adoption go through after 15 months, and he's having a welcome home party this sat, that I cant bail on.... :(

I think I might plan a trip down to NC to race with some of you guys in the near future. Happy for my buddy and his new son, but bummed I'll miss the race.

There are often no electrics where I am racing (except for 1 8th sclae that runs with the nitro buggies), so they let me run with the nitro monster trucks, which is 15 moniute mains (compared to the 7 minutes they would normally run for electric). I do just barely have to do a battery swap with my MaxAmps 4000 in a xxx4 with a MambaMax/5700 -- I use up about 4200 mAh in 15+ minutes, spread across the 2 4000mAh packs.

I love racing my B4 and have been racing it in the standard stock class at a local track. At least here in NC (where Pro-Truck is HUGE) there aren't any lipo buggy classes but there is no reason you can't start up your own class. The 2wd buggies will accept the 8000 mah lipo just like a truck will.

The reason buggies aren't as popular here is that all but one track in the area is designed for 1/8 scale and the trucks just handle 1/8 tracks better. The buggies flip and flop around on blown out 1/8th tracks. But at one track (The Grove in South Carolina, a true 1/10 track) I think buggies are faster and more fun.

The Farm has a club race on July 21st and is the last race there for a while since the ROAR Gas Truck Nats are there in August and the World's 1/8th scale warm up race is after that...no electrics for a while there.

Come join us on the 21st at the Farm. There should be around a full "A" main of 15 there to race with too!

Thanks for the info. I am figuring with AE now releasing there B44 soon, would be a hot class to have, lipo + brushless + 4wd could be really fun.

I agree about the blown out thing however, I remember trying to run 4wd buggy at wolcott hobby in CT and when the track was blown, no way to really get down the straight at speed.

I guess the reason I ask is that I am really not finding myself liking the truck thing and to top it off the truck I picked up for my daughter to use she prefers buggies too. Just something about buggies...

Getting a little too cocky kiddo!! Bring that Novak system out and let this old man give you driving lessons! Better be glad you switched from that Mamba to the Novak because that is the only chance you have of beating this old man! On second thought, go back to the Mamba so I know I can beat you for sure!!! :lol:

Are you guys having issues with your mambas?

I probably won't pick up another mamba, not because of performance issues, I just want something that delivers 6V to the servo.

For guys running 4600 motors, how do they compare to a 13.5?

I haven't had any trouble with mine. Craps just likes to talk junk:p. I do prefer my Novak for racing though.

The 4600 would be way faster than a 13.5. My 4600 compares well to my 8.5 sintered.
