Default Stand up VS laydown shock systems better for bashing?

I was just wondering if a laydown shock setup like on the revo is better for bashing then stand up shocks system like on a most cars. Do stand up shock system have more articulation or would a laydown one would? Which is more durable? Which will provide better dampening? Etc Thanks Ethan
