shortening my servo wire, for the clean look...
 

Hi guys,hope you can help me out.

I want to shorten my servo wire to the receiver. Im tired of the snotted up wires and want to make it cleaner looking. I dont want to mess this up though. is there a kit with a new connector and terminations, or is there an extraction tool/ special crimper thats needed? :weird:

I have Hitec and Futaba servos, if that makes a difference.

Well if you're running Losi cars, just wrap the end of the wire (closest to servo) up and put shrink wrap or electrical tape around it and stick it under the servo mount piece. That's what I do and it's hardly noticable. If you're running AE cars, this most likely won't work.

Just take the wire, wrap it around a screw driver and put a rubber band over it. Warm it up w/ a hair dryer and leave it over night. This will leave the wire like a spring and should keep it nice and neat. The only way to realy shorten it is to just cut the wire and solder the wire back togather which probly won't make it look any neater.

with an exacto, I carefully removed one of the pins from the connector. it comes crimped and soldered from the factory. I guess what Im after is a new set of pins for the connector. then I can cut and shorten the wires, reterminate, and reinstall.

I was just wondering if theres a kit for this or if connector pins are available somewhere.
