All joking aside, a good driver can win with either truck. Run what you can get parts and help for the easiest.

Craps, How has the overall turnout been for the 20 min. truck class? I've been trying to get that class going at our local track but the only thing I've accomplished is getting an extra 2 minutes added to the mod truck main!! We only get between 7 and 10 mod trucks anyway so I was presenting it as a once a month race that might attract racers from other area tracks. Are you seeing this class at a club level or just at the big races?

Scott,
David and I are in for sure if you can talk Lance into it. I have an extra MaxAmps 6000 that some one can use if need be.

I'm pretty sure Victor would be in too and maybe Brandon. I'd like to see Richie Kurtz race in it but he's still running the lathe between heats. I wonder if we set the first one for the middle of August if we could get the guys from up north to come down. Or... we could just go ahead and start it up and run it the same day as Mod truck and run both. Let's wait and see if we get any new people this week with the new layout. We had two heats on Sunday and that was without you, David, Victor, and Brandon. I think we'll have a good turnout this sunday as well.

A little over 3 years ago here in the Carolinas mod truck and gas truck was almost gone due to the 1/8th scale wave and a few of us decided to combine them together getting li-pos and brushless racing for 20 minutes. Both class came back so strong that we had to seperate them to complaints from the gas guys it was unfair even with pit stops for all. Now the li-pos are still growing and gas truck is almost dead.

Just scanning over this thread and I saw Richie's name. Just curious, is he a teenager? If he is, I raced him before. He's pretty good. Anyways, down the road I was thinking of selling all my nimh's and Novak GTX's and going with Lipo/Brushless. What do you guys use for batteries/speed controllers??

I'd say he's in his early 20's but I could be wrong. Yeah, he's fast. How has the mod truck turnout been down at Mccullough's? You're racing outside right?

Yes, we are racing outside and the mod truck turnout (and electric as a whole) has been pathetic. Just 2 short years ago, there was full heats of mod 2wd, stock 2wd, mod truck, stock truck and now they combine them because there isnt that many

This weekend is the big RC Pro Series Nitro Race. I'll be running my GT2.

I am hoping to lead a revolution in electric soon. We do allow Lipos/brushless in stock and same goes for mod, the exception is big races.

It sounds like McCulloughs isn't too far from me. I'm right below Youngstown, in Boardman. What's the best way to keep updated on any big electric races you might have down there?

We have a ROAR Regional in October. Thats all I know right now.

If you're from Youngstown, were talking about the same Richie Kurtz.....

For the lipos, you can store them fully charged and ready to go?

Reason I ask is that if that is the case, that is a really nice feature since you can run when you are ready instead of waiting for your packs to peak out.

I will charge my packs the night before a race but I don't think it is good for them to store for more than a few days charged. I;ve heard it may shorten thier life. I can't tell any difference between a pack charged a day ago and fresh peaked.

I have left mine charged for 3 weeks and there was no difference.

Any of the lipo manufacturers say if you can store them like this?

In the future if I do lipo, that would be a really nice feature to have as it would be almost like nitro where you just fire and go. No need to wait for the pack to charge right before the race to get the most out of them. They are ready to go.

no one says you can't store them like that. I use mine like nitro all the time. They last so long that the only time you really need to charge them once in a while. you cam mess around in the driveway 5 min here and there with no prep time at all. I can get 20 min out of my Maxamps 6000 with a Novak 6.5 with no problem. I have never let it hit the cut off so I dont really know how long it will last.
