What's the difference between a slide carb and rotary carb?

Is one better than the other?

One faster than the other?

The rotary carb has a rotating barrel inside that rotates as the servo arm moves and the slide carb has a sliding barrel with a needle on it that moves out of an orifice as the servo moves the arm. I feel that the slide carb is somewhat more responsive than the rotary carb, but cannot say that one is vastly superior to the other. The slide carb does have the potential to meter the fuel with more precision than the rotary carb. Either style will win in the proper hands though.

My basic rule of thumb is onroad = slide carb, offroad = rotary. Slide carbs have a ton of punch, and I think too much power for offroad cars, where as rotary have a bit smoother powerband, more controlable.
