Very insteresting. I take it that the battery is wired into the jack then out of the jack? I find that very interesting but would worry about shorting things out

the battery is hard wired to the switch and then the switch is wired to the post ...never had a problem shorting

It really doesn't look like there would be a problem with shorting. The posts seem far enough apart and there doesn't appear to be anything that would be able to close the circuit.
