After only 3 weeks of owning an R/C and 1 race night Iam thinken that stock sounds good.
If all the cars r the same then its all driver???
With my new faster motor (stock) I droped spots on the grid as I couldn't handdle it (yet).
Spending heaps of coin just on stock I can only imagin what mods would be like (seen some of those crazy setups coin coin coin).

Bring on the debate crew and I'll take notes.

Just run stock. That is where you need to be while you learn to drive. As long as you have a good battery management system and take care of your stuff you realy won't end up burning a hole too deep in your wallet.

Ahh yes but what if all the mod drivers were each given the same wound motor then it'll all be back to your statement "Its all driver".
WIth standard, the emphasis is on consistency. When driving a mod the skill required to be consistant just went up a notch. Its what ever you feel comfortable with i guess.

a good stock motor and battery should make most of the jumps at your local track mods a whole diffrent monster lol

Run stock until you win 3 mains and then move up to mod. I wish I'd done that when I was a kid. I was the 12 year old who insisted on running mod because I just had to go fast. Nowadays, I only race mod unless not enough people show up for the class. I think it's more fun to drive a car that's on the edge of being out of control than driving a car that is just plain slow. However, when I do race stock, it feels like taking a donut off a baseball bat. It's so frickin' easy! And it usually surprises me that I'm only a second or two off my mod lap times. It's too bad that being smooth isn't as much fun for me as being almost out of control and slidin' sidewayz...

All you need for off road racing are a set of matched 3300s neways. They seem to realy like the trinity dlp and any charger that can charge them at around 3-4 amps.

The only time I ran stock was at a Pro Series event and it was a blast. Other than that, I only run 19t motors.
