Tamiya TCS race series buggy class question.

hiya folks,

thanks for looking in.

ima taking part in Tamiya's TCS buggy class and am required to use the Dirt tuned motor: link

problem is that i seem to have some trouble with it. the motor sometimes stops working or works intermitenly. it also smokes a little sometimes. i've broken it apart an tested it for short circuits but it seems fine. the magnets are fine as well.

some of my mates using this motor are also having difficulties. same problems.

someone suggested that the brushes could be hung up, but i've cleaned out the brush hoods and even commed the comutator and cleaned it after. also, i've used new brushes.

ima at my wit's end, i wanna continue playing at TCS, but i dunt wanna buy a motor for each heat or main event.

does anyone have any similar experiences and could suggest any remedies?

thanks!
