I put the 1000 uF cap on to help with the heat of the ESC. Since Tekin requires the Cap on their G-10 and G-11 to prevent thermal shutdown (It does work) I put one on the Mamba. I have a Eight T with a 1515 2.5D/F with hole mod and 2 fans and the ESC has not gotten warm to the touch with this yet. I am going to keep it on until I find a reason to take it off. I don't use spectrum so I am not familiar with the cap for it.
So did you connect the cap as it is on other ESC's, A short wire as possible to the +&- battery posts on the esc? Has anyone tried the cap in leu of the hole mod?
hey just found this thread. looks cool. i did a custom gorilla maxx revo with the hacker c50. the only problem im having is that everything is overheating. i have 2 fans on the motor, novak powerboost esc fan kit on my hacjer master car sport speedo, and one blowing in from the body. ive got the motor cooler but the speedo is still running too hot for my liking. what should i do?

sounds like it could be a gearing issue. brushless can overheat with under gearing just as bad if not worse than over gearing.
or a timing issue.

I built up a gorillamaxx revo a while back. It was a beast, I won the monster truck class everytime I raced it. Then nobody wanted to race with me anymore lol. Check to make sure your drivtrain spins VERY smoothly. The input shafts in the both front and rear diffs can bind up kinda funky under load. The binding was killing the efficiency of the truck with mine. I felt the revo to be a bit to heavy and the drivetrain was not efficient enough to get long run times and prevent overheating of electronincs. The best things I can think to do with your revo is go though the drivetrain make it run super smooth and test it under load. Next put it on a diet, put truggy tires on it, remove any extra weight, and (if you are not already) run it on LIPO batteries. Good luck

Clearly The Best!!!!!
ive checked my entire drivetrain. geared it down. ran lipo's (2 maxamps 6000's), and tried some good tried and trued gp3300's. gotten rid of almost all excess weight that i can get rid of without taking away any of the performance of the truck. im running 23mm prolines with the standard size maxx wheel. do u think that it could be the speedo?

I had a C50/Sport setup in my Emaxx a few years ago. I ran it on 12 cells back in the day. The C50 is a hot motor and can be a bit too much for the esc and really just too small for a MT.
Mine used to run 180-200* on both the motor and esc... sometimes mine would thermal trying to race it by the 5-7 min mark.
You could try a motor that's better suited... like a Feigao L or XL size. Or you might get by with the C50 and a Mamba Max.

Hey guys, thought I would update everyone on my progress with my MBX5 Brushless that I got from Paul-67.
I did some light running at the track yesterday as there was a big race there I didn't really cut loose, also, I didn't really have my receiver fully mounted so I just wanted to see how the cogging would be with my new setup on some more wide open runs.
The buggy has wicked acceleration but fully controllable and the cogging with my settings and the throttle curve change barely happened if at all. The gearing feels about right for the track size, I may try going up 1 tooth if I go to this other track that I think is bigger and see how the cogging performs.
Now, My question is on checking temperatures. When are you guys pulling the vehicles off to check the temps? Do you do say 5 minutes of full running and them temp at the heat sink level and motor or some other method?
Also about the capacitor thing, would I still get the same benefits if running the cap on the receiver?
If cooling happens with the cap, I know some guys who have some really big caps they would look to run, wonder how much cooling would be seen then?
I did notice that my buddies maxamp 8000mah 11.1V pack doesn't look like it will fit in the battery tray unless I mod it alittle. There is foam in the tray sides I think to hold the battery tight, but it looks like even with these removed, its still too tight. Anyone notice this with RCProductDesigns Tray?
All and all, extremely happy with my purchase.

How do they stack up against the Neu, plettenberg, Fiego, etc....
They don't. I've just upgrade from the HV 6.5 and also tried a 4.5. Takes too much work to keep them from thermaling. And the power isn't really close either.
Cain: the maxamp 8000 profile fits in the RCPRODUCTDESIGNS.COM battery tray.
The new Long Battery Tray from RCPRODUCTDESIGNS.COM is now available. There is a pick on the web page under the EL8. At the moment, only the EL8 is done. Others will follow.
