Anyone see the latest issue of RC Driver #47 November? They have a Losi 8 Electric VS Losi Eight Nitro comparison.
Setups
E-8IGHT
Motor: Mega Brushless ACn Car8+
Battery: 2 2200Mah 11.1V Thunder Power Lipos (In parallel)
ESC: Mamba Max
Nitro 8IGHT
Motor: O.S. .21VZ-B Vpsec
Fuel: Losi 30%
It is a very good article pitting the two in the following catagories. I have listed the winner as per RC Driver for each one.
Acceleration : E-8IGHT
Speed: Tie (I strongly disagreed with this one)
Jumping: E-8IGHT
Traction: Nitro 8IGHT
Steering: Tie
Breaking: Nitro 8IGHT
I really enjoyed the article even if I did feel that it was a little Nitro biased, but this is probablly due to the fact I am very electric biased. In the end it was a very well written article splashing 6 pages across my favorite RC mag highlighting what we are all trying to do on this forum... Bring the brushless Lipo 1/8 scale to the forefront of our hobby. From articles like this and others recently printed in RC driver and other publications I think that the RC manufacturers are really taking a notice of how this trend is growing and to take a quote from the article that brought a twinkle to my eye
"Mark these words: you will see electric-powered 1/8 scale vehicles such as the E-8IGHT coming from major manufacturers - and sooner than you think."
Do they know something we don't? Either way I feel like this branch of RC is on the cusp of being something really big and I am glad I can say I am a part of it.
The shroud is just a little bigger in diameter than the can. Someone put on his 8ight and it just barely fit with a small pinion. Email them and ask for the dia of the shroud. I saw your Jammin at Dan's house yesterday. The integrated splash guard and long battery tray (you will have the first one, I'm third after Dan) looks great. He is just finishing your motor mount. Once you get the dia from DB, ask Dan if it will fit with an 11T pinion. It should fit. A fan could be nice in the FL summers.
I originally ordered a 1512 2D with a Fan but the distributor sent it to someone else by accident. Happywing uses the 2D in his Mugen and it works great.
DB is Happywing and my LHS.

OK guys here is a quick video of my E-LSP Pro-R. The truggy is doing pretty good--now i just need to learn to drive it. This was the first race for it--also my first truggy race ever. Looking forward to round 2 next weekend--i will keep you updated how it goes. Mine is the yellow and pink one (the one that is all over the track) Took most of the day to dial in the esc--had to take most of the power out, just to be able to control it. Esc temps were about 140 and the motor was 140 also in the 100+ degree Alabama heat!!!!!!! After i learn to drive this thing i believe some of the nitro guys will be in trouble--i've only been racing 8-10 th scale rc for about 4 months.

Very nice... it has just a little accleration huh?
Dude, I know you already know this.... but man you gotta find some point between 10% throttle and 100% throttle, LOL... you like to grab a little too much trigger.
It will come with time... truck is looking good bro!

I've been following this thread for quite a while, hoping at some stage to add a 1/8th brushless truggy to my otherwise 2wd off road collection. As I lack the time and RC technical expertise to convert a truggy myself, the possibility (high probability I hope) of RTR versions being offered by major manufacturers such as Losi, Kyosho et al is very exciting. It will be interesting to see what the next year or so brings.
Thank you also to the members who regularly contribute to this thread and the entire off-road sub-forum; it is a valuable resource for someone new to RC and a showcase (for want of a better word) of the technology out there, and the incredible fun to be had with off-road RC!
Second that "find some point between 10% throttle and 100% throttle". I doesn't lack power and I'm sure your having a blast.

RC Driver is doing a product review on my EH7.
David Baker told me yesterday he ran it with a Feigio in it geared 16/46 and radar gunned it at 37 MPH. Put the Neu 1512 1.5D/F geared 12/46 in it and clocked it at 48 Mph!!
He is pretty sure it will be in the December 2007 issue.

I thought you might like to see my latest kit I will be running out with after the iHobby show. Which BTW is about to kill me. I have so much stuff to get ready and no time to do it all. Anyhow here is the completed car. I will put up a photo pf just the mount later as time allows. This car will be on display at iHobby. Never mind about the wheels and tires the new ones have not arrived yet.
This is one of the easiest set ups I have ever done. It was even easier then the first EJato I did a couple of years ago. I am going to try to get David to work on this one also for RC Driver.

I did see the RC Driver issue. The first company to make an 1/8th scale electric race quality buggy & truggy is going to have a huge success on their hands.....
Did you notice the electric buggy only used a 3S pack & a 1400Kv motor? Why is everyone using 4S packs & 2000Kv motors?
They used 2-3s in series, so it was a 6s pack. They said they used a MM. I haven't heard of anything above a 5s on a MM and that was really pushing it.
"Why is everyone using 4S packs & 2000Kv motors?" It works.

I talked to DAN yesterday & he said he was happy with it. I can hardly wait. I think i'll just wait till i get the car in my hand. My friend has a new PLETTENBERG maxximum with fan that he is willing to sell me at cost, so i may go that with that im not sure yet . If not i will probably start with my 9XL.
