I have ordered a few items from Starluck over the past couple of years. No problem at all. Jamie is one of the good guys. So is RC monster Mike from www.rc-monster.com.
I run a 9xl in my mugen on medium sized tracks and I feel its plenty fast enough. I can keep up with all the nitro's in the straight and smoke them out of the corners.
I'm also running my 10th scale orion 4800's for now in series. I feel like I'm cutting there life span short, they get somewhat hot after a longer run.
Your lipos are probably getting hot because they're only 15C.
Dan designed a pinion sleeve that has held up very well with the Century 5mm Pinions, but he hasn't made any to sell. You can email him. Go to www.rcproductdesigns.com
If you can't get the bore reducer from Dan, Mike at rc-monster.com has 1/8" to 5mm bore reducers in his webstore. He also sells hardened steel Mod1 pinions (up to 20T) to use with stock steel spur gears. A lot of guys have started using these pinions versus having to figure out how to migrate to a plastic spur if the Kyosho won't fit their center diff.

I've heard of it with their old rotors. What pinion shaft are you using and how is it mounted? I got a letter from Bob Novak four months ago about my concerns for the 1/8 shaft size. He said they were developing a 5mm shaft replacement kit, which will include new bearings too for the current one and will eventually sale the HV system with 5mm shafts.

They will replace the rotor, I don't know for free or not. Give them a call and mention the letter. I'm sure they understand that motors with this type of power could be harmful to the 1/8th shaft with the torsional reaction loads it sees.
I think the guys around here that use the 1/8 shaft know to keep it on the dirt. The EH7 and 4.5 is a very quick conversion buggy. The 6.5 have proven to be competitive around here too.
Thanks lx muff for the reply, plan on talking to charlie on this shortly. Been in conversations with him from the start. The pinion was a 5mm with a reducer made by a machinest friend. It fit as well as I would ever expect. I think I should have ajusted more break out of my transmitter thru the epa. I don't see any signs of twisting on the shaft just a clean break
well im going to get rid of my eb4 and pickup another mayhem and convert it. i cant wait to get started
Keep us updated on the conversion--I am in the mo=iddle of a Turhem (Mayhen converted to a Turmoil) conversion myself. I decided to go with a feiago (thanks Sean) MM ($115 at b-p-p.com) and 2 4s 4000 mah maxamps lipos (thanks Dom). I also picked up a mount from qbayle along with a ubec. Next is to get with Mike about some pinions and a heatsink (if think he out of them now)--So does antbody have an extra feiago 540c xl heatsink/clamp that they are willing to part with, also need to find a way to mount 2 packs in a buggy (any suggestions). Thanks for all the great info guys--It's made this project painless!!
Very good explanation Gary................You may want to try the low start power too, just to see if it could help your configuration.
ive tryed low an with my truggys settup ive found high too work best(mite be cus ive got a very hot motor, an the way ived programed my mamba max mite have something to do with it)...

First off I modded the clutchbell to fit onto a collett that set screws onto my motor
secondly I am running the LRP sphere competition esc with A novak 5.5 motor..all mounts are custom made and I am running a Orion 4800 2s lipo
I have had this buggy street tested and it is bugger all quick but I am concerned about battery temps...It seemed to get really warm and Im not sure how hot a lipo should get when discharging.....I know most of you will say to get a MM and A neu motor but until I have proof that this setup isnt viable I would like to try it...any hints ,help ,or suggestions are greatly appreciated! thanks
samurai, u have too small of a esc. & motor & u need to run 2 2s lipo packs together not just 1 2s pack(u need 14.8volts), theres no way ur esc can handle a 4s 4000-6000lipo battery, and u need a bigger motor, the motor u have is also way too small.... ur best bet is to get a mamba max an a 9XL motor, and get a second orion 4800 pack and make a wire that will hook up both batterys together so ull have a 2 2s 4800lipos witch u want make them into a 14.8volt 4s 4800 lipo..... (theres a post on here how too make the wire its like 10 pages back)
this is the best way to make ur 1/8th scale buggy Brushless...
u can also get / run a novak system if u dead set on having a novak system/sensored system, it called the HV system an a HV 6.5 novak motor theres a few guys running them but most are having a problem brakeing the 1/8th motor shaft, if u dont run on concreat & dont bash on it hard it shouldnt break.....
but like i said before ur best bet is to run / get a mamba max and a 9XL motor......
go to www.rc-monster.com (u can also email mike at rc-monster.com he will help u out) u can get the motor and mamba max esc form them, also they have pinon gears for the 9XL or Hv 6.5, ull need a UBEC cus u cant use the mamba maxxes when u run 4s lipos 14.8v, u just have to cut the red wire going fron the mamba max to your reciver......

Any suggestions on this or input would be appriecated.
its the novak motors theres a few guys running them but most are having a problem brakeing the 1/8th motor shaft, if u dont run on concreat & dont bash on it hard it shouldnt break.....

9XL is fast enuff, its faster then .28's in the turns an ull be alittle quicker on the strights...
I spoke with Novak today, and their sending me a new rotor. I guess my testing will have to be done in the dirt only.
yeah, dont go on concreat, we need slipper clutches, someone needs to make them, were relaying on our esc to do all the work(brakeing & smooth accleration) and the motor too... our motors are getting pounded on, there really getting the shit beat out of them, if u think how our 1/8th scales buggys & truggys motors control our 4wd gear terains its amazing the motors stay together...
this was the motor i was going to get(cus when i was looking to make my truggy brushless no one made a losi 8ight T motor mount but rc-monsters.com, and EL8 KIT came out so i strated looking for the best motors, witch everyone started pointing to the Neu motors).....
but since i have a 8ight T if i used that motor i couldnt figuer out how / where to put my batterys on my losi cus of the motor placement.....
but for a 777, STR, CRT, OFNA, this would be perfect an easy too do, if i ever get a buggy i mite get a 777 an would try it out....
btw they have some vids of this motor in a few buggys, look good torquey.....
