yup, i forgot to add, RCMonster.com sells a heatsink that fits the Feigao motors, and has a built in clamp to keep the motor together.

Some guys were having issues with the cans coming apart in big hits.

I'm guessing the rotor issues are heat/RPM related.

1: Anyone with experience using the Feigao motors? RC Monster has the 540C_XL motors in 7, 8, and 9 turn. From what little data I can find on these, the 9 turn version is 1853 RPM/V, no load. Does this sound like a good one, or would fewer turns, more RPM/V be better?

2: Gonna use a Mamba Max, but all the specs I see for it list 3 cell lipo's as the max voltage it can take. Is a 3S lipo gonna be enough voltage, or are people using the MM with 4S and hoping it doesn't melt down?

Thanks in advance for any info.
I run a Feigao 9XL, MM, and 4S. The Feigao works fine no major temp issues so far on 15/46 gearing. I have to tame the throttle curve a little because there is so much grunt. Top end runs right with the top nitros but gets to top speed much faster. The MM says 3S but I "think" that is mostly for the ESC/Motor combos (4600 and 5700). My manual actually has statements in it about using 4S lipos. Just disable the internal BEC and they seems to do fine. For racing purposes there is plenty of power! I'd like to have a Neu or Lehner but the price/performance of the Feigao makes it a little easier on the pocketbook to get started.

Does anyone have an run a Eagle Tree on board data logger?

I want to put one on my Brushless 8ight T, with every sensor that would be able to hook up to my Brushless Truggy....

Can u post pics of your setup or know where theres pics? or a video on how it works/is used?

What sensors should i get for my truggy?

Is there other stuff like this system?

Is the Venoem Speed meter worth getting?

I want to buy any high tech stuff for my brushless 8ight T that will be cool and usefull that will transform my brushless truggy, into a Formula 1 race car, but it will be used for practice an racing on my local offroad race track, and will be used at my house track thats being built.....

Let me know how Eagle Tree works, what can it do? does it work with vista?
Can it show realtime telemitree? or is it just for after running? Can u tell me how it works?

also is there any other stuff like it, amps, watts, mahs, volts, runtime, g-force's, rpm, temps, speed, vary vary small GPS, post pics or a link to anything that would be usefull for me...

Thanks,
Gary

btw guys i have a 2s2p 8000mah maxxamps lipo pack, and a 4s2p 8000mah maxxamps lipo pack, i wanted to know if i could hookup both packs together and hook it up to my mamba max? i wanted to try an run a higher voltage pack..... an see how my Neu motor works with more volts....
so can i do it....

im thinking of going to get a slower Neu motor 1515 2.5d or a 1512 1.5d or 2.5d, an mabey a MGM 224 esc....

i want my truggy to be more tammer for racing, but still want to be a hair faster then a modded .28 an have lil more torque too.... right now my 1515 1y is to powerfull for me to race, its has more torque then i need, i tryed all my settings on my mamba max an its still hard to drive on A offroad track, on road its AWSOME......

You could take out the throttle in the esc. The settings on the throttle curve can be turned down so low that it crawls. All of the 1515 motors are about the same power, just different rpm/v.

Hi guys, well, I ready thru this entire thread and bought a used hyper 7 last week. I've been running BL 1/10th buggies for awhile now, and I'm ready to take the plunge. I manage a 1/10th scale track in sw lower Michigan, so I'm going novak 4.5 for power. I allready have enough orion 4800's to run all my buggies so that'll be my power for now. We run 10 minute mains so I hope they'll make it. I have a guy who runs an E max with the same setup only 3200 orions and he makes it no problem. Is anyone locking there center diffs? Or are you just using them as you did with your nitro setups? Any help here would be much appreicated.

Bad

Where did you break your battery tray on your EL8 any thoughts on what would prevent the break other than not crashing?

The front of the tray broke from the force and weight of the battery, The tracks around here are just like the super cross video, lots of big air jumps and 20 min mains. Dan is working on beefing up the front of the tray. I am going to try to incorporate the velcro straps that Gorilla Maxx makes. I will keep you posted.

You will make 10 min on the 4800's. Run the diffs the same as you would on a nitro car. Do not lock the center diff unless you like wheelies!

Doug,
I wouldn't waste your time with the Gorilla maxx straps, they are not very durable. Mine ripped in two the first bad tumble. I personnaly went to using velcro in the tray and on the bottom of the pack and now the battery doesn't budge. It adds a little hight I know but what a difference.

Hi xtreme,

Ive been reaqding this thread for a few weeks now and reckon what you guys are doing is great! I hope it catches on down here in Australia.

I run an Eagle Tree logger on my BJ4 and it is awesome! I use the following sensors:
- steering / throttle position (standard)
- brushless RPM
- g sensors
- 2 x temps (ESC and motor)
- current and voltage (very useful - get the 140 A current sensor)
- I have also adapted a Spektrum lap timer beacon, but still working on the settings to get that working 100% correctly

See attached photos. Your 1/8 truggy should swallow this unit up.

I cant recommend the Eagle Tree unit highly enough. I work with full size race car data loggers (I have worked in WRC, Dakar , F1 and GT racing) and you do need to plan what you want to find out before you run the car to get maximum benefit (eg temps, currents, mah etc) but you can get very good run times even logging at 20-40 Hz (10-15 minutes of logging time). Its very useful to compare gear ratios, cooling options, comparing batteries etc etc. Alternatively, you can order the Seagull unit to transmit the data back to a receiver(or laptop) real time which is very useful, and if logging with a laptop, the data logging time is almost unlimited.

You can also order a GPS unit, but I havent run that and Im not sure how good the resolution is.

Its a very easy unit to setup, but analysing the data can take some time. The standard analysis package isnt the easiest, but if you import the data into Excel it is much easier to compare.

If you want some 'Formula 1' in your truggy, then this is the tool to have!

If you want more info, please dont hesitate to ask.
