I bet I was in the first 50 to order or less. I ordered mine by noon on the first day. They are probably randomly filling orders. I have one on back order from Tower too which I ordered within minutes of them putting it up on their site.
Check your credit card statement online or on the phone for recent transactions. I didn't get an email from them, but my card was charged today so I'm assuming that means it shipped. I ordered at 10am on the first day too.
I got one comming from RC-Monster too. One for the truggy and one for the savage. Truggy gets it first.
BTW Edumacated.... I'm an idiot, I have tickets for next saturdays game, so it turns out I will be racing on this saturday after all. I went out to LH tonight to practice and get the feel for the my new 808 I just finished converting and saw the outdoor layout. They just finished it this afternoon and were just pounding in the last few spikes on the tubes when I got there. It looks awesome! I asked if I could run on it instead of the indoor track and they told me no. They need a good rain or a couple days of watering to get it totally settled before they want it run on. I wish I had brought my camera.
Another personal note... TOTALLY happy with the new 808! Night and day upgrade from the EC i was running. Just totally planted and corners faster than anything I have ever driven. The suspension is just awesome. Really looking forward to saturday now.

Nothing charged yet. I will give them till tomorrow afternoon and I will call to see what is up. I am going to race too on Saturday. I really will probably be using the 3s 8000 pack because I don't think I can make a 20 minute main otherwise. It will be close, but I have a feeling my 4s 5000 pack will dump just before 20 minutes. Hopefully, the 1509 comes in and I can try it out on Thursday night too and maybe run that for the weekend.
Damn... Just looked on RCsignup.com for the race and its listing the A main as 30 minutes! I dont think I can make that. B main is 15 and the rest are 10. The website for the event only says 20 minute A main which i could easily make.
I'm sure I don't really have anything to worry about as I seriously doubt I'll make the top 10 for the A main with my driving skills, but that would suck if I did and couldnt finish.
You've got to keep in mind, it won't only pull 65 amps.
65 amps is only what it's rated to before it builds too much heat and it's effeciency goes out the window.
The way to size a motor is to determine what your wattage requirements are and then pick the lightest motor that will be effecient in that power range.
65 amps on 5s might be enough to get the job done, I'm hoping.
4s could be dicey, but no one really has figured out how much power we actually need for these things yet.
Good luck at the races, if the 1509/1.5y works out well for you, it'll be my next motor too.
Regards,
Nathan
I have a 1509 in a Losi 8 Buggy and the motor rips!! I love it. Last week we ran with a 1512 2,5 and it did not miss a beat. Lost of torque good top speed, low temps and long run times.

Electrics run on smoke, if you let it out they are done!
No worries about my Caster car. We realize Caster is not one of the big boys. But there is no reason why it can't become a player, especially as a leader in the next big thing in R/C. It's not easy to get into the club, especially since Losi and AE have joined.
I also have more ideas for future designs that will raise the bar. I'm not going to stop with this first design.
When the big dogs put out a car, it will be interesting to see what they do. I want to see them evolve, but I don't think we will or should venture completely away from the basic "build like a tank" 1/8 car.
We don't want to end up with a 5lb car that breaks like a 1/10, or we may as well just run 1/10 or "stretched" 1/10 like the JConcepts T4 buggy.

Aside from a composite integrated chassis, there's only a few little things that can be done to get these to look more factory. I feel RCPD, RCM, and ourselves (Tekno RC) all have great looking products. How can you argue that an electric specific hard anodized CNC chassis or the integrated battery tray/mud guards don't look factory? This is what the bigger companies will be copying. Electric chassis advancements are already going the same way as nitro - moving things as close to center as possible, get the weight balanced. As glassdoctor implied, once the 1/8th scale durability is lost (i.e. no aluminum chassis), why would people bother? You might as well race a nitro if you want to finish anything longer than a 5 minute race. The durability is one of the main reasons people are so excited about 1/8th scale electric.
jhautz, I think that the only thing we need to stop screwing around with is buying a nitro race roller only to ditch a lot of the components and THEN convert it. glassdoctor and Caster are working on that already as are others. One thing is for sure, there will be a wider range of chassis layouts for electric than what we've seen in nitro. That in itself will ignite innovation and competition and it will be great to see what happens. Already we have pretty different layouts and features between the Tekno, RCM, Caster, and RCPD products. This is good for the consumer and the industry. The bigger companies are working on stuff, that's for sure. But how will they present it, what will they settle on, what compromises will they make, and what problems will they solve (or create)? We'll just have to wait and see.
Nobody is saying that what you guys are doing is not creative and innovative. I'm not trying to take anything away from what you and all of the others have done and are doing. I think the work is fantastic and I love the products. I doubt there are many that spend as much time and money on them and experiment with as many of the products as I do. I am one of the biggest proponents of these products that you will ever find.
Pehaps my choice of words was poor, by saying "look cobbled." What I meant was they are peice parted together. A piece from here and a part from there and figure out how to get it all together and make it all work. 99 out of 100 RC hobbiests dont have the attention span or willingness to do that. (especially at the current prices) Untill Joe Racer can walk into the LHS and pick up an electric race chassis and all of the things they will need to run it, this will always be an outlaw class. From where I sit it will take one or more of the big guns to come into play to get it there in the next couple years.
You guys are establishing the market and developing a loyal group of followers and fans, but I dont see it as enough to move it mainstream unless the big guys get in the game. I do however see a very big opportunity for these companies leading the way to establish themselves as a "big guy" if the right moves are made at the right time. Who knows.

Dang, we are definitely going to have to get clarification on that. If the main is 20 minutes I will run 3s. If it is 30 minutes I will run 4s and plan for a battery swap. I am going to the track on Thursday and probably Friday for practice. How about you?
Castle charged my Amex! No email though. Now I am going to be pacing everyday at work to race home. If it ships Wednesday, I could get it on Friday or Saturday.
I am hoping to see something innovative from the major manufacturers in regards to conversions. I agree with JHautz that it will take a big dog to introduce something to really get the masses thinking about this class of cars. The bolt on kits from RCPD, RCM, and Tekno all look fantastic. Usually when I am at the track people think my RC8 is some kind of Associated prototype the kits look so good.
What I am looking for is a purpose built car with the same amount of r&d a new nitro car gets but with electric performance in mind. I definitely am not looking for a slightly larger 1/10 car with a plastic chassis that breaks the first time I lawn dart which was one of the reasons I decided to ditch 1/10 and go 1/8. I like the durability of the cars. I am a new driver and the only thing I have broken on my car in 3 mos is an A-ARM after hitting a wall at Leisure going about 45mph!
I envision the cars to look very similar to the caster design or maybe a design with the battery directly in the middle of the car or close to it for better balance.

If possible, I would like to be one of the first on the list for the 8 and 8T coversions that you are making. I think they are incredible, and I cant wait to get my hands on them!
Hi -- I am just getting interested in the 1/8 conversions. I have been running a emaxx brushless for a about 4 months and I am really interesting in taking the power plan and putting it in a 1/8 buggy (emaxx can not handle the power) . But I have never been around any buggies. will be bashing and playing on a track but no competitive racing. It is pretty overwelming to look a the different (all look the same to me).
Can you point me do a resource. Seems to be a lot of good info on this thread but 100pages is making my brain swell.
I am going to run 4s (2 7.4packs) and a MM esc with a 8XL. Not sure if I should stay way from certain buggies. I have been looking at OFNA Ravanger and Hyper. Any recommendations are apprecaited.
