I have an 11L but I haven't run it enough to know how good/bad it is for racing. I have run it in the street a little, and it seems to get hot much easier than a Neu, but that is to be expected. I want to get it on the track to find out how it does, since that's what I'm more familiar with and can compare with results from other setups.

I tried to get a 1509 1.5y too... not sure what I'm going to do now.....

Yes, the fans would draw more than their 12V rated current... on the higher voltage of the 4s lipo. I don't know how much, but that would be simple to check with a meter.

BTW, don't forget to consider the airflow capacity of the fan too... it might take 2 or 3 of the 80ma fans to move the same air as a 150-200ma fan. But I have seen some fans that just work better than others even when the ratings are similar. Clear as mud... lol
The fan does throw a great deal of air at the ESC. I have been happy with that. As the calculations are showing, appears to affect runtime barely.

Ok, I put the 1509 in and within 2 minutes destroyed the front set of tires. The tires spun so much and they split in two right down the middle from the wheels spinning and expanding. I put 10K oil in the middle diff and now it pulls a small wheelie from a dead stop. At this junction I am very please as the motor seems to be completely managable.

Next stop the track with a fully charged pack. Gonna run it until it dies or breaks and then shoot it with my Thermal Imager for temps. Will post run times and temps when done.

Edit: This item has sold.

Someone let me know if this isn't ok, but I just listed my e8ight on ebay if anyone is interested. Here's the link:

Sad to see it go .

Will the 1512 overheat?
This is exactly why I think the 1512 1.5D or 2D is a better motor for the truggies and the the 1509's for the buggies. Too much power and torque creates excessive wheel spin and slower lap times. It would probably hurt run times as well.

I've had the 1509 1.5D on order since before I went to CRCRC....It sucks waiting for these things! Neu needs to get rolling on these motors...LOL

I should have a spec sheet for the Enerland 4900mah pack to post here. I don't really know what to look for on them so I look forward to some insight on that.

So, anyone with an RC8? How is the weight on these running your conversion?
Like I said earlier, the fan is neglible. I'm still with LXMUFF on the 4900 cells not being Enerland cells. Hopefully you'll prove us wrong

As for the RC8, Chewie was running the same exact setup (6000mah MaxAmps 14.8v pack, 1512 1.5 D/F and CC BEC) I had in my MBX5R at CRCRC and we weighed our cars together. Mine was 8 lbs 4.3oz's and his RC8 was 8 lbs 3.7oz's. He has a 12T pinion and 46T plastic spur and I had the 12T pinion and 51T Ofna spur with MSR adapter and taller mount. If I had the shorter mount with Kyosho diff and Kyosho 46T spur gear, I'm sure my car would be a good ounce lighter. The taller mount for the 51T spur has more meat on it...LOL

As for run time, BASASSREVO is running the same motor as you but with the 5000mah long Enerland cells he is getting 25-30 minutes run time. I wouldn't go any heavier than this battery on a 1/8th buggy (the pack is 512g). Any heavier and the balance of the car is way off. Closer to 400g is actully better on a car like the Mugen but teh only pack that is going to be around there is the Neu 30C 5000mah 3S1P 11.1v long Enerland pack (which is exactly why I'm going to try the 3S on 1509 setup). I look forward to more info from Chuck67 and his 1509 1.5Y setup. It sounds VERY promising so far .

Tony,

No problem. I trust my source on this, and he is getting the info for me. as I understand it, it was a special request to have cells made in this configuration and is fairly new. PM if you want, and I can go into more details.

Has anyone used the Anderson Power Pole connectors instead of the Dean connectors on their battary packs? They are a whole lot easier to work with since you solder the pins to the wires first and then insert the pins into the plastic base. I have had problems getting a good solder on a Deans without melting the plastic.

Man,

thats like seeing a leprechaun! Better get it quick!

As for the Anderson / Sermos connectors, I am not sure if the standard RC Configuration would hold up. I love them personally for 1/10 scale. they do make heavier duty versions, you can order then from mcmaster or something like that. Worth a look.
