use the 25x25x10 fan.
When you use the UBEC you have to pull the red wire out of the speed control plug.
I also eliminated the switch and use the battery connector as the on off switch.

On page 9 I have a quick pic of the holes I put on mine. It does help. The MM is at its limit on the buggy and the T is a little heavier. Good luck...

Doug did you try the holes in the MM.
I put them on my second buggies MM too.

I have drilled holes in the case. I also drilled holes in the bottom and mounted a second fan under the speedo on the bottom side of the diff top plate. I will have to do some test runs to see how it affects the temperature.

Here is my debut EL 1/8 buggy race. Doug you'll have to come up to oakhill so I can have some competition! Three other guys here are in the process of building their El buggies too. I did the same thing you've been doing I qualified 2nd and took the A. Not to bad for never even testing anything out. Just threw it together and spanked!

Part 1 of the A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEVBD_XeZFQ

Part 2 of the A
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEVBD_XeZFQ

I had a buddy take this photo! I couldn't help it, that poor guy spent about 3 min's starting that car, I spent about 3 milliseconds!

Here is a pic of my setup.

I ended up smoking the motor right after the A though. If you look close at the setup pic you'll see the motor and heat sink separated some at the back. I think I'm going to use a hose clamp to hold them together. I'm also getting some of that white lithium CPU grease and I ordered some bigger fans to put on the heat sink. I don't want to smoke another motor.

Gary,
Looks good. what is the schedule up there and what time do you start. Is mod truck still big?

You will have to let me know when you have your car ready to go. that is a long drive but I would love to come up to Oak Hill again.

Did Mike get his Mugen built yet?

Doug

Just a hint get some Arctic Silver 7 from COMP USA, don't use the cheapo paste. Or you could get a quality thermal epoxy to eliminate the hose clamps.

I've finally got the opportunity to convert my 8ight to brushless. I can get some great prices on some castle creations gear. So I'm looking at getting the Mamba Max ESC. Does any of the motors Castle Creations make work for the losi 8ight?

Also, is the Mamba Max ESC still the best choice for the 8ight?

Thanks a lot,

-Mike

Thanks for the tip on the artic silver 7 I read reviews and was hunting for artic silver 5 but if 7 is out it must be better??? I hope. I think I'm still going with the clamp though and I'm pretty sure i can sqeeze 4 40mm fans on there to. i have the 10,000mah pack so i have some mah to spare, use it if you got it you know.
