I am almost positive they have the same specs but I am not sure. The main reason I whent with the smooth can is because Feigaos have the tendance for the endbell to pop off and if that happens then to bad, so I went with the smooth can and bought a rc monster heat sink with endbell cover. it is basicialy as I said a heat sink that sits on the motor to help cool it, then on the back it has a bar that goes across to clamp on the endbell. you could get the finned 9xl but then you would need to have some sort of other way to clamp on the endbell, I just went the easy route and bought the endbell clamp but you could also make one or whatever

Yes you can use a hardened pinion on a steel spur. I am doing that now and have had others tell me to do it too, it makes a little more noise but not much. I am using the RC-Monster hardened pinions.
So can I leave the stock diff in and get a hardened pinion and go like that?

I don't want to get into a debate about which is better. But I would like to know what are the differences between the RCPD kit and the Monster kit for the Mugen?

Besides the battery tray you get with the RCPD kit. And the servo mount you get with the RC-Monster kit.

I mean just the diff braces. I can see the obvious differences in the 2 kits but don't they do the same thing?

Does the RCPD kit work well with a Novak HV ESC?

If I got a hardened pinion I could move my HV system in and get with it right?

I doubt anyone has both brands to compare. Seems popular to run a rcpd batter tray and a rcm motor mount...

Thanks for that info on the spur adaptor.

Lots of questions and ideas and, and ,and....

Im starting off with a blank page so to speak and will see what i can get locally first and then see what i need to import.

The Caster ZX-1R Pro is a good place for me to start.
For right know my questions are why side mount motor and not top mount ???
Why a large pack on one side of chassis and not 2 packs on either side ??? this would also eliminate the issue with battery height effecting the body and good balance.
Why 4cell and not 5 or 6cell as the higher voltage is supposedly more efficient ???

Lots more ???? but they can weight until i sort my first issues out.

On the diff fluids I have 5-7-2 in my MBX5R I sent Stephen Bess at R/C Car. After he runs it on the track and against his nitro MBX5R I'm sure he'll play with the diff fluids and report back what he ends up running. It'll save me the effort .....LOL But I'm willing to bet it'll be very close to what's in there now.

Yes you can use a hardened pinion with steel gears, I am still not sure why the plastic got so popular, I think the plastic is good to have and use but if it isnt a dirrect fit onto your diff I dont see why you would want to spend so much on whatever will make it work. Tony has his reasons with the adapter, but I just dont see the need to buy a whole nother diff.

He still hasn't sent back your buggy? Will you have any time to run it before Columbus?

Thanks for the tips.

I'm going to go like that then I guess. I would like to keep as much of the Mugen together as possible.

So the last 2 questions I have would be: Is the RCPD kit compatible with the Mugen diff?
And how does the mount for the esc line up with a Novak HV?

I may just buy a Mamba Max and another can. I know if I take the HV out of my E-Maxx I'm going to miss it.
