Thanks.

You guys have gone leaps and bounds my real passion has always been electric but with local tracks that are big and 1/8th scale being the dominant class. I think this could well be something to put me back on track. Thanks a bunch to its main contributors, theres no doubt the potential its going to generate in the future to come

Glassdoctor, i think yours would classify as being tip of the week, i did that once, connecting a rx pack not knowing to unplug the red wire from the speedo and yup my rx pack blew , thank you for sharring that

I would think that the mamba motors deliver enough power for these buggies. The only problem is that you would have to find a way to properly gear them. The 5700 on 3s supposedly delivers a kw of power, around 1.3 horse power and offers a linear torque band so you will have more horsepower in the lower rpm areas. The only problem is that you would have to find like a 90 tooth spur and a 15 tooth pinion to make it work.

Glassdoctor,
Do you run a fan on your speedo or anything else? since there is no differential breaking do you run heaver weight oil in the center diff?
What do you run front? center? and rear?
Do you cut any holes in the body for cooling? It looks so nice with no holes I would like to leave it that way.

If everything shows up in the mail this week I should be able to start running my electric 8ight! It is a brand new car I have never driven an 8ight,last year I ran a Kyosho with a P5. I hope it handles like my Tamiya TRF 501X. It should be a fun summer and the indoor season this winter will be even better with electric power.
Thanks again for all the help I will shoot you an email if I need any more help.
Doug

I have used fans on the motor and speedo but I haven't been lately. Maybe when it's 90* this summer I will try them again. In my CRT I had one big fan over the motor and esc (next to each other) and it did keep temps lower.

I'm running stock diff oil.... and no holes in the body.

I am also thinking about an electric 1/8th. It would be nice if a list of options (maybe with mfr links) could be created -- I don't know all these different motors, and the only ESC I have heard of to use is the Quark 125B. I did see a 1/8th (not an 8ight) in person that had a Hacker C50 motor and a Quark 125B.

motor mount and battery tray $132 www.rcproductdesigns.com
motor $247 www.rc-monster.com
ubec $34 www.rc-monster.com
spur $4 www.rc-monster.com
pinion $ 5 www.rc-monster.com
battery $250 www.maxamps.com

Dan I burned 48 gallons of fuel last year at $23 a gallon so the battery is well worth it for me.
I have read that the 8ight handles like a giant xx4.

Run your 8ight electric and your Mbx5r nitro

you need a ubec to drop the voltage down for your receiver and servo. the speedo can do it but it will overheat and shut down. you need an external one

If you are talking Lipo's you only need one battery. Let it cool and charge it again and again and again.......
