I just was trying to put two and two together... He seems like a pretty good guy. Really quick with his 1/8 electric too. We have a few really quick guys down here. It'd be fun to race with some guys up north.

PLUG IT IN, TURN IT ON, DRIVE!!! MAN, I LOVE ELECTRIC.
and cheesecake had his 1 day of nitro fun. should be ordering the rest fo the brushless stuff to convert my losi truggy to brushless
LOL
You are welcome to run an electric truggy in with the nitros too... I have done that 2 out of the last 3 years without issues. Here's what I ran and where I finished...
2006 electric 1st
2007 nitro 1st
2008 electric 3rd
I'm not planning to run truggy this year, but if I do... I don't think it will be nitro
It's come a long way since I saw the car at Motorama....LOL
I'll see you at Wolcott Sunday. You've given me the motivation to get my stuff together and ready to race....hahaha
ps... 15/40T (pinion/spur) and 10/43T diffs with a 1700/kv motor on 4S yields a top speed of @ 29.4 mph. On 5S it would be @ 36.7 mph.
on 4S a 20T pinion would give you @ 39.2 mph.
on 5S a 16T pinion would give you @ 39.2 mph.
I'm not sure what size pinion you can fit up to with your setup. I have every size if yuo want to play around with pinions Sunday.
Thanks Tony! Yeah, I've done a little more on it since then
Actually, I milled the fins a little on the Tekin motor so I can go all the way down to 13T, and I have no upper limit...well, maybe in the high 20's I started with the 15 at DR to be conservative w/4S, since the track has zero straightaway. For Wolcott I'll try the 16T on 5S, and play a little with timing, throttle curve and amp limiting as well. I didn't have the Hotwire program on a laptop last week at DR, so I couldn't play with it at the track. I'll have a laptop along Sunday so I can tweak it. I have all the pinions from 13 thru 18 so I should be able to make any ratio I need.
Hey - I also need some screws - you know anyone who sells them? I'll do an inventory and send you a list later today...not too many, so I shouldn't be killing you.
See you Sunday - sounds like a good turnout brewing, and the weather sounds great for a change.

Great products. Goofy names.
I wouldnt mind making the trip either. But yea.... ROAR rules aint gonna work for me either. Everything I run is 5s soft case packs. Ive got no use for ROAR.
How exactly do 10 minute AAA mains work? It seems almost like 3 qualifiers. After each they just shuffle the starting order based on the finish of the one before. So the only one that REALLY matters is the last one. Might sound like a dumb question, but I haven't ever had to actually run AAA mains. I've always just raced "nitro" rules with fake pits and all.
looks pretty good man, one thing id to get some heat shrink or buy these things called cvd condems, they keep the little pin in your driveshaft if the set screw loosens up, which it will over time, trust me.
Where do you get them Greg?

They just avg your three finishes for the final score and the one with the best avg wins. Kinda like motocross.
In most cases, qualifying determines the starting grid for the mains. The starting order for each main does not change for each of the triple mains; TQ starts in the 1st stop every round. Points will be awarded for the finish order after each round, and the top score (high or low depending on how the points are awarded) after all three rounds is the winner. If someone wins main 1 and 2, they will have the win guaranteed if it is best 2 out of 3, and it will probably be up to them to run the third round, or sit it out and let everyone battle for overall second place.
Some like the triple mains, some don't. It does help reduce the impact of breaking, or a bad start, etc as it would have to happen multiple times to eliminate someone from contention. Of course, if it is not best 2 out of 3, one bad round will still kill ya!

I am going to have to swing by and check out your d8 in person. Cant race because my tekin was sent back
The new track layout looks great though.

I will see to it that 1/8 electric does NOT follow ROAR rules. This is NOT a ROAR race... it just says that on the flyer as standard "coach speak". I made up that flyer a couple years ago... I didn't do the flyer this year but it looks like they used mine from last year as a template. Of course, like most tracks we do use basic ROAR rules in 1/10 classes but again this isn't the freakin nationals and I think we use common sense to supercede any rule book. There are no partypooper Stormtroopers at Hobby Haven!!! lol
Again... we have locals already running soft lipo packs and 5s, 6s, etc... and I will see to it that we don't exclude anyone who wants to come race. You do NOT have to run hardcase packs. 5s and 6s is OK. Even Zippys are OK. lol (please just don't show up with a emaxx with buggy wheels or a 12lb 60mph weapon or something retarded like that ) As long as you can keep it on the track and not hurt people, it's all good!
AAA mains are sweet I think... just like has always been done at big 1/10 races... just like at the ROAR Nats in Omaha last week. Basically, it gives you a throw out so, like if you break or get hosed in the first main it's not game over... you get a chance to come back in the last two races. The RC Pro Series is doing this too. At my RCPS race... first A main.... I was running 2nd right on the tail of the leader and looking for a spot to pass... when I smoked my speedo, so I had a DNF. But I came back and won the second A. So I still had a shot at winning... just had to get it done in the 3rd A, which I didn't... poor tire choice and my car got way loose instead of better and I overdrove it for the first few laps. Settled down by the end but I was too far back.
