Bob alot of people @ rc-monster have used the lehner motors with very good success. They are hard to get from my understanding as there is only one supplier in the US, & they have 4mm motor shafts instead of 5mm. you would need to get a bore reducer from rc-monster. They are 2 pole motors & would work with no problem at all with the MM. The 1940 series is very popular on 4s & the 1950 on 5s. The 1940 7 or 8 turn seem to bee popular in the buggys.
These stats are with a 1940 7 t on 4s.
Differential Ratio: 3.3076923076923075
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 46
Pinion Tooth Count: 13
Total Voltage: 14.8
Motor KV: 2239
Tire Diameter (inches): 4.43
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Motor Current Draw: 50
Motor coil Ω: 0
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3.54 : 1
Total Ratio: 11.70414 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 13.92 inches (353.5mm)
Total Motor Speed: 33137.2 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 37.31 MPH (59.94km/h)
Effective Speed Rate: 2.52mph/V (4.05kmh/V)
Effective KV Value: 2239
Motor Torque: 0.16 ft-lbs
Final Torque: 1.84 ft-lbs
Thank you very much.....

I have a 1950 and 2x 2250's and they have 5 mm shafts on them. I am positive of this. I dont know on the 1940.
OK I just looked and the 1940 down has 4 mm shafts. Glad i never got one of those. That would have thrown me for a loop.

I tried to get a Lehner for a while. I wasn't going to buy one from the stateside dealer, though. Me and him had a falling out. It took some time and a friend made some contacts for me and I was sent an invoice. $60.00 for shipping! Got a Neu.

Not that anyone cares... But if you are trying to contact me I will be offline for the next 4 days.
I am building a track for the Boy Scouts of America Campboree at Michigan International Speedway this weekend.
Great exposure for the hobby. There will be in more than 3000 kids there plus counselors, volunteers and parents.
Right now there is over 600 kids signed up to race. Plus times alloted for walk ups.
We are building a simple track. Will have my timing system there and will run 2 or 2 1/2 min races.
Traxxas has loaned us a fleet of Rustlers.
MAX AMPS donated a bunch of 4000 Lipos.
RC Car Action, RC Driver and RC Car have donated almost 1000 magazines and some door prizes.
Should be fun!!! By Monday I will have to come back to work to rest!!!! LOL!!

Curious, does the RCProductDesigns MBX5 conversion work with the MBX5R? Rason I ask is I may upgrade mine in the future to MBX5R Specs including the chassis, but I am not sure if the conversion will still work on the newer chassis.

Real racers dont wear boxers.
Hi all,
Based in Australia I have read this thread with great interest & wondered if anyone has converted a Hyper ST Truggy to brushless. Being a former brushless Losi MF2 owner & a recent convert to the Truggy class as my son is racing my MF2 my first nitro meeting had me pining for brushless again!
Does anyone know if the RC Product Designs Ofna Hyper 7 (EH7) buggy kit/parts are compatible with the Hyper ST truggy?
Thanks in advance

Well... I can't say definitively, but the motor mount I think would work. You might need to run a smaller spur than what is in the ST. You want to use a Kyosho 46T plastic gear anyway.
Not sure if the battery tray holes match up to the ST chassis, but no doubt there will be plenty of room for it on the truck.
"As for the Rc8 is Ryan Mayfield not an experience driver? I've heard he breaks an upper steering plate almost every outing."
I race at the same track as Maifield. I've seen him wrenching on that RC8 for a long time now, back when it was a proto. I'm not certain, but I'm under the impression that he almost tries to break it, or push it to it's limits. This is just from what I gather. He, in general, appears to be a very aggressive driver, more than the rest of us. I'm talking being aggressive, yet still very in control. In other words....I think he's a great guy to be testing R&D for putting a car through the rigors.
Ever since I saw his car, to me, it was just another car. I didn't see anything special on it that made me have to go out and buy one. So the RC8 hype never hit me. I still love my Losi 8ight, or should I say EL8 now.
I've been reading this thread and temptation is big to join the EL8 world I'm living in Belgium and usually drives 1/10 electro. The topic being quite big, I think it would be interesting to have a sticky post with all hardware needed to run an EL8.
I have additional questions that I haven't seen answered earlier:
- what's the biggest battery capacity that can be put in the EL8 battery tray without customization?
- how long would take this battery to recharge?
- what would be the runtime with it (this has been answered most likely)
What's the best electronic (esc & motor) that's currently available for a EL8?
Your correct. This thing has gotten too big to have to read through the whole thing. People do ask many times questions that have been answered, it's just hard to find now.
I was talking with happywing about this yesterday. I'll put a list together of what we spoke about yesterday and yours with some answers for common questions.
Around here, we will have enough conversions for 3 heats of 1/8 buggies and 1 heat of truggy for the indoor winter racing. There have been enough hard-core nitro guys seen these and have ran out of excuses, except for the initial cost.
I'll put this on the list too, but I would like to say one of the biggest issues with these things are that they jump higher, further and are faster than any nitro. With that said, they fall and hit things harder than any nitro. The LIPOs are very malleable and can deform which could lead to worst outcomes. Respect the LIPO.....

On RC monster, the ESC is described like this: Specs
Cells 6-12 NiCad/NiMH 2-3s LiPo
Continuous 100 amps
Resistance 0.0003 ohms
Brake Proportional
Reversible Yes - with lockout
Low Voltage Cut-off Programmable
Size
ESC overall: 1.9 x 1.3 x 1.2"
=> 2 or 3s while you are using it with 4s batteries.
Am I missing something?
Anyone thought of making a FAQ that has all the important info in one place? I kind of did something like that when going through the thread on my own, pretty much cutting and pasting what I felt was important but it would be a good way to give newbies info quickly.
I would say to answer some of the questions that the Neu motors appear to be the accepted standard to use. Feigiao motors sound like they can do good too, you just need to have that RCmonster heatsink and watch them more I guess.
As for batteries, I think without modifications you can run up to a 4S 6000mah lipo.
As for ESC, a modded Mamba Max is pretty much standard. Basically modding to have air holes in it, use a seperate UBEC, and fans to keep it cool. I never found out but I am thinking temps below 160 on the ESC are good? Anyone confirm?
