Hi guys

I started reading this thread yesterday and made it most of the way through.... my eyes and head are burning lol

I just sold all my nitro stuff recently. I had one of those race seasons where motor problems made my days end early, spent a fortune on glowplugs etc. I got into 1/5 gassers and just finished building a brushless 1/5 bike. all I own right now are either gas or electric rc's and enjoying the no tuning stuff. electric 10th scale to me sucks on our tracks because they just break too often (I had a MF2 with a GTB and it broke on my first battery pack landing on my wheels off a jump so I sold it...)

I have always loved 8th scale for sheer toughness, and when I saw a brushless conversion a few days ago, I was sold. I was sent to this thread and I spent my day off reading...

I am picking up an H7 Pro with a bunch of goodies today to convert. I like the saddle pack idea for balance. My nitro race partners also want bikes and were going to get nitros until they saw mine run on brushless hehe. dam I love powersliding. Now they are also wanting to convert their 8th scales to brushless as well.

I have a Schulze U-Force 75 and Plettenberg Extreme motor in the bike. I know I can use the controller, but would this motor work in the buggy? or would I just be better off buying a Fueigo (sp?) 7-9Xl. I searched ebay for the nieu but saw none for sale

I soldered the Cap on the board where the battery wires go in. The Cap on the receiver is for a different issue. It was to prevent the voltage dropping when the amp load pulled by the motor from dropping and not having sufficent voltage going to the receiver. The Cap on the ESC has to do with voltage ripples that generate heat in the ESC the best I can tell.

The Extreme is a great motor, but not for a 1/8 buggy. It's too small and too "hot" for a big car.

The U75 might do ok... it you use a proper motor. A Feigao 9XL would be good.

here's the Neu motors and other brands (Wanderer is same as Feigao)

Hi, I'm building up a MP-6. I have on hand a Schulze 18.61K, Feigao 10L and 2 MEC A123 6.6 volt 4600 mah packs. I also have a 14 tooth mod 1 pinion. I've done this conversion before (without the A123 packs) and the motor/speed control combo worked/survived. I only ran it in the street however. Will this combo be fast enough for racing? How long will it run on the 2 A123 packs in series? Am I going to have heat issues with the sp control and motor? I,m going to order a motor mount from RC Monster, do I need the heat sink/clamp as well? Thanks, Don

About 7 out of 10 people that I know of have driving one... have converted. I think the other 3 are waiting for their P5 to burn up or the money to pay for one. I'm doing an 8ightT.

Well, last Sunday, my MGM started failing, barely moving the car around the track. I never did get the intermittent cutout problems solved. So, it's benched until Tekin comes out with their speedo. Badassrevo's MM failed completely on him as well last Sunday. He got a new MM, but it worked for one day and failed the next. So, he didn't get to run the cash race today. Tekin REALLY REALLY needs to push to get their speedo out. Tired of half assed and rigged speedo's we need to use.

Also, I read somewhere about someone adding a 1000mf capacitor. I have the glitch one for spektrums with is 1000 mf. Can this be used on the receiver? How will it help things, if at all?

Thing I am really going to enjoy the vehicle.
Cain,
I have the same motor and I use these settings:
firmware version 1.07
punch: 20%
brake: 30%
start power: low
timing: normal
drag break: 0%
I have no cogging at all

how would you rate the 1515 2.5d/f for a truggy? Enough power? whats the cogging like and what is your gearing? TIA

Had the first outing on the Brusless lipo EL8 today. Did ok in the 5 min mains, motor temps of about 140 ish, speedo about the same. Had a bit of cogging, nothing I couldnt deal with. Car is insane. Smokes the Nitros with ease. Its not even funny how fast this thing comes on. Rode the wing all the way down the straight a few times, way over jumped the big double waaayyy too often. At least the small crowd was cheering.

Now the bad. The speedo is done for. It popped out of the plastic case on the main. When you plug it in now it just lights up all 3 lights and makes a horrible noise. No throttle at all. no blinking lights just all 3 lights lit and a squeal sound.

RC products motor mount had some issues. Bottom mount holes were not deep enough on one hole and the threads were not very clean even with anti sieze, had to cut one screw about half way down to get it in all the way. Top of the mount only caught about two threads and both those holes are stripped now.

Front of battery tray is no longer there. Busted it off on a lawn dart landing.

Phillips motor screws come loose, replaced with allen heads still loosening up on me.

Everything is loctited or super glued, many many times to try and keep things tight for 2 5 min quals and a 15 min main.

I love the conversion but I definitely have some problems with a few of the parts.

Any suggestions on getting this thing repaired back together for next weekend?

Lots of local guys are asking about the conversion. Easy stuff to sell when you can outrun a nitro that has half a straight on you while you are on the bumper!!!!

Heres the setup

Losi 8
Neu 1.5 d/f
11T pinion
Mamba max
Novak BEC
Maxamps 4s 6k MaH

Heres the Max settings

Brake 25%
Punch control 80%
Timing Lowest
Start Low
Throttle pulled all the way down 0-30% then linear up to 100%

I ended backing a bunch of EPA out of the throttle in the main to help get this thing tamed a bit.

For anybody that is on the fence about this I would say jump in, Its hard to describe the power of these things. You nail it it squats balloons the front tires and puts the buggy on the bumper at the same time wooping the nitros.

Dan has redesigned the battery tray for the 8ights. He will no longer be using the posts and a battery strap. It will use a velcro gorilla strap, and will be bigger to accomodate some of the other lipo's out there. I haven't seen these yet, I just got a notice from Dan regarding a recent order.

I also snapped my first tray, and have since removed the posts, and installed a velcro strap from front to rear. Haven't had any problems for the past 4-5 race days, and a few practice days as well.

Regarding the fit of your parts and stuff coming loose, dunno. I make sure to loctite everything and let it sit for at least a day before running. (not always possible though). All of my stuff fit perfectly, and I had no issues with poor threads. Maybe Dan will help you out there? I know he's pretty slammed with orders lately...
