In the end the quad mag motors basically have less magnetic field, so you get more RPM. They were kind of a fad a few years ago. No one uses them anymore (Reedy hasn't released a new motor in 3 years or so).

One of Reedy's newest motors is a "Flash Modified" that has quad magnets.

I have the 15x2, got it in Nov 06.

Hey.

Actually the flash series are machine wound, and based off the KR series... Reedy have since made the TI Worlds edition...

I asked this question to the Reedy guys about which motor will make more power overall, even though they later with back to a two mag setup, the quad mags they said made more power overall. Have to find the email about this. Big Jim also said that too. If I recall, he also shown designs of a motor that had six mags or something like that he was working on.

I'm from the Slot car scene, Raced them for 15 years and in the open motors they had 10 magnets. The more magnets the more magnetic strength, the more power and more brakes.

But most motors in the RC game just have 2 magnets.

More magnets = more arcing = more comm wear.

And it's exponential, not twice as much wear/maintenance, more like four times as much. I ran a 12x2 Kr for a while, only got two runs before it needed to be cut, switched to the 12x2 Ti worlds, got about eight runs between cuts. The Kr did make more top end power but the motors were pretty close in low end and midrange. From what I understand, that's the reason Reedy switched back to two magnets.
