I just bought a MP 7.5 Kanai 2, havent raced 1/8 scale in about 3 years, I am basically just wondering if the car has any weak points that will prematurely wear, or easilly break if I snag something on the track. I either want to upgrade that part, or get a few spares. Thanks for any help.

The upper arms and the shock shafts. if you hit something with the wheel just right, the shock shaft will break.

The k2 is not really prone to break anything. The shock shaft problem was with the k1 and even that wasn't much of a problem if you modified them corectly. I have never broken a upper arm only the tie rod and I was able to reuse the upper arm after I got the old tie rod out. Sooner or later you will bend a shock tower but it can be straightened. The only weak point I found were the steering knuckles, the threads pull out if you overtighten them. Sometimes if you are using the stock hingepins you might break a front arm. If you take your time building it, it is damn near unbreakable.

What shock shafts, and hinge pins would you recommend?

Randman, Trinity makes a hardened hingepin set that uses nuts to hold them in. There nice. Stock K2 shafts are all you need. Other then that, you really don't need anything. Maybe some spare plastic parts.

Pros here are smearing shoo goos on the clips to prevent it from popping out. No need to buy those Trinity hinge pins. The K2 pins are bulletproof. It would take a spectacular hit to bend those puppies. Save your money for clutch shoes and tires.

I used shoe goo last year on my k1 and yes it did help but in no way does it solve the problem. The problem I am refering to is that on a heavy frontal impact the smaller clips that hold on to the pins that go through the front c-hubs will simply pull off and then the arm will break. The reason some pro's don't use the trinity pins is because their is allot of hate twards trinity and they will not use anything trinity has to offer no matter what. If you go read some of the threads on the sgrid you will understand what I am talking about........

So far, in my experience, I don't have any problems with my K2 ...especially with the pins.

Cost really isn't an issue on this project, so I dont mind spendin the extra cash for the pins, just to be sure I wont have problems with them. I know how much hate goes towards Trinity, but it really doesn't come from me, I think they make good stuff, racer's stuff actually. I am just trying to build this buggy as bulletproof as possible.
