Default super brain 989 charger!

I havnt seen any threads about this charger, and i just got one myself, so i decided to make this thread for the discusion of the 989, and how awesome it is!

i was supprised with its value, it came with a 10 amp power supply, and wires to go from the charger to the battery. it also came with a temp sensor! all of that, for about the same price as an ICE. i was very satisfied. the only thing that bugs me is that it is so Quiet! i can barely hear it beep.

Just curious as I am looking for a new charger, where did you get it and what did you pay.

Thanks
Dave

I just got mine about a week ago from Tower, used a coupon. Was 138 shipped.

Another complaint is the leads to the battery from the charger are too short.

you can change the connector without voiding the warranty, and if you desired a longer wire, then you could just solder more length on. its no big deal.

cheers!

i am not sure how it connects to the charger on the 989, but i added a deans plug on the 977 to the b channel and pretty long leads with deans wire, gold banana plugs and deans connector on the a channel.

the power supply crapped out, had to send the whole thing back to MRC and they did not say anything about my changing the connectors.

BTW, MRC customer service is the slowest i've ever experienced in any aspect of my life, ever....

it took them over a month to get me my charger back and they are only 2 hours away...

nice unit tho so i'm sure the 989 is nice as well.

i think the included power supply was just to get you started. the next thing i'm gonna get is a better supply, not that theres anything wrong with the one i already have, but that i'd like to power multiple things off one supply.

I bought a few months back, awesome charger, amazing feature list, and a really great power supply. Whatever you do if you get one though is DO NOT connect the battery backwards! The thing will instantly go up in smoke. Happened to a buddy of mine at the track with a 989 as well.
