RC10 GT2 Diff?

Hey everyone. I just got my new RC10 GT2 RS from Ultimate Hobbies and i have read that the Diff is set too loose from the factory and it will break if its not tightend. Have any of you guys herd what im talking about? How can i go about tightening the Diff if it is too loose.

It should be set fine from the Factory. It is built with the same setting we use in the kit. Where did you hear this?

I have a question about my diff to, but I have a FT. I noticed that the diff moves quite a bit side to side when everything is bolted up in the tranny case. I was thinking of adding some shims to tighten everything up a bit, similar to what the losi xxx-cr has when you take out the brass shims and what not.

It was said in the April versions of both RC Driver and R/C Car magazines. I have broken it in and have been running it for the last two days tho and the diff isint loose at all. Its a great truck. I love it. Maybe they got defective trucks to test out?

Defect?

Defect is too strong of a word.

Keep in mind, diff adjustment can be a subjective thing. Depending on track conditions, some people run their diffs slightly tighter or a bit looser.

Was the diff in the GT2 RS reviewed in RC Car Mag was too loose, yea a bit. It was slipping when accelerating with the stock .15.

Bascially, diffs in any 2WD gas truck should be checked and readjusted after the initial runs - RTR or kit build.

I put half a gallon through my stock rs, then change to a .12cvr and put another gallon. it is just starting to feel like it needs a rebuild. My first AE in 15 years, and the diff is still going strong. Rebuilding it this week, plus i have a spare complete diff since i bought the wrong part a few weeks ago.

Hey everyone,

I am thinking of getting into 10th scale offroad nitro and would love to find out what people think of the GT2 RS.....has anyone tried racing it yet?

Get the ntc3 tranny shim kit and you can shim it up perfect.

thank jbrow, I take it you had the same problem?

Bigedmond 03-15-2007 11:13 PM

well i rebuilt the diff, and was very disappointed to see bushings in the diff. I expected bearings, but nope. Luckly, i had the spare diff that had bearings. Just put it in, and threw the stock diff out.

one of the differences between team kit and rtr is bushing in tranny for the rtr, but thats a cheap upgrade.
