I'm assuming the play is with the bulkhead cap tightened in place. Unless you can find something wrong with the part, I would just call it a production tolerance and add more shims to the slipper assembly. Even leaving the play in there I would imagine just a slight pinion and spur mesh wander would be the only issue.

So there is an issue here, either with my slipper assy or the bulkheads.
could be the chassis mounting holes in the wrong spot as well.

Jconcepts is really good with customer service, even through E-mail.

I took the slipper apart 5x and it goes back together the same way.

Update: Jconcepts customer service is E-mail only, no phone support. Excellent.
Don't bash JConcepts CS, before you even email them. They are hands down the best in the industry.

We cant always answer the phone, there are a ton of things going on. Please email and request more shims for the slipper if needed. We can get them right out to you.

Thanks!

Hi Andy. I was told by one of my friends who know Jason Ruona to send in a resume for Jconcepts. Is there ANY way I can contact him to make sure he got my application?

Thanks in advance,

Brad Shearer

Brad,

If you havent sent one in yet, dont, haha. The tire deal coming in during the middle of the year has added a large workload to the "team" thing. We have to look at everyone again on a case by case basis, so we're swamped with that. I would wait a little while until the tires thing settles, and then reapply.

If youve sent us an email and havent recieved a response, then Im not sure what to tell ya other than try again before the summer is out. I dont handle that stuff...or emails for that matter so Im a little disconnected.

Just a tip, make sure that it is NOT a form letter, as those get deleted/shredded. Also include some information about yourself and your racing background, and then on a seperate page, break down your results. Hopefully youre a loyal customer, as that always helps.

Good Luck,

Andy

Update: I am a mild retard and once you bolt on the top to the bulkheads there is no play in the slipper. I never bolted it on because once i saw the play in between the bullheads I got scared. I even put the top on it and it was still loose however once bolted down its fine.

Shims were unnecesary it went together as the book says. Shame on me.

Maybe you should check things out completely before ranting about how crappy the kit and customer service is. I'm picturing you having an L on your forehead (jk).

Stripping the gear? I had one rear gear set that I noticed after practice for a big two day race, which had one tooth 90% gone on the ring gear and two more teeth half gone an a 1/3 of a tooth gone on the pinion (not motor pinion). No one had a gear set within 100 miles so I shimed it up and it lasted the entire weekend and a couple of club races. My buddy put in 3 set of rear gears in his ZX5 within one full battery pack. I don't know what that was about.
