I have read pages 53 - 35, but I did not see an answer for the questions I have...

Question:

- What are the differences between a B4 buggy and a J82 in terms of handling characteristics?

- Is a kit (J82) necessary to convert a truck to a buggy?

The idea that I could purchase a truck, convert it to a buggy and then back again is of interest to me.

I used to race Touring Cars Yokomo (roughly, 12 years), and gave up racing about 2 years ago for various reasons. However, I really miss the building, tinkering and running of R/C cars (it's an addiction).

I have never raced off road, and there are no off-road tracks in my area that I'm aware of. But, I imagine running an offroad up and down the street, and on the ball field etc., it a lot more fun than just running a TC on the parking lot by myself.

I was leaning towards the B44, but that's probably overkill if you're not racing. So, I'm considering the J82 conversion.

The J82 will handle better on blown out tracks, much like the truck but quicker.

Yes, The kit is needed

Yes, you can go back & forth between the truck & J82 the same race

The J82 can handle being a basher better that a B4 or a B44.

Hi Guys, thanks. I'm not sure that I'd consider myself a "basher", though.

Having an off road car would allow me to keep my RC feet wet. I see myself returning to Touring Car or 1/12th scale in the future. The unfortunate thing for me is that returning to RC is going to mean learning about and buying new LiPo capable chargers, and the brushless ESCs and motors.

Regarding the J82...

I prefer the looks of the buggy to the truck, however, I don't want to be limited when it comes to the terrain that I can drive the vehicle on. Everything I've read seems to suggest that the trucks are more capable.

I figured the J82 to be a hybrid and maybe more capable than a standard buggy?

Would installing a buggy body, and narrow narrow wheels on the front of a T4 be the same thing as a J82, or is there more to it?

Thanks!

All the J82 is, is a T4 with differn't wheels, and a buggy style body and wing. Other then that it is a standard T4

The rear rims on the J82 are a different offset & the front rims & tires are made for this car & the body & wing are larger that your standard B4 body & wing, it makes the car more like a 1/8th scale
2WD electric buggy.

Brushless and lipo are very simple to understand.

The J82 is awesome incarnate, is what it is...but it sounds to me like what you want is a monster truck. Stadium trucks and buggies are designed with racing in mind. I suppose you can bash with them...but I don't know why you wouldn't get a MT if you want to be able to drive over any kind of terrain.

On the other hand, the Slash is a great all-purpose racing/bashing truck, which you can get into pretty cheaply. It handles bashing style terrain well (not monster truck well, but pretty well), and of course as a racing class it has taken off nationwide.

But yeah...I love the J82, couldn't be happier with such a simple conversion kit.

+1

I've always thought about converting the T4 into a B4 but leaving most of the T4's parts which will give you bigger shocks, longer arms, but JConcept went ahead and implemented a proper sized body and front rim/tires for it for the full effect!

Never needed or wanted a T4, but now I find myself searching for one just for this conversion! What will JC release next? A truck conversion for our beloved B44?
