Currently, these are the only guys making saddle lipo packs that I am know of. Click the Lipo Car Packs link on the left side and it will bring them up, just scroll down a little.

there is a guy here locally that ran lipos in his xx-4 for 2 heats. For the 3rd heat and every other time he's run the car has had nothing but 4200's in it.

I run lipos in my XX4... I have one pack of the cells that maxamps uses currently and one with an older style cell. The old ones actually are a much better size.. but you can't get them anymore. The new ones are kinda small, lenfth and width.. so that makes the packs taller. But they are better, more powerful cells though.

I have a 4400mah pack... and it doesn't really fit using the stock battery holdowns. I just made some out of lexan. My older packs are actually too short and need some foam spacer under the holdowns.

I added weight to the rear bumper of the car to make minimum spec and help settle the rear. 1-2oz... can't remeber exactly... will depend on your other elctronics.

Threre aren't too many good cells that are a good size... about 40-45mm wide x 65-70mm long.

I use the maxamps 4400 saddle packs and they work great. I took the stock battery straps and dremeled them smooth top and bottom then dremeled the cover plate lips smooth.

I just plug it into the charger between rounds to top it off. Works great. I tried the 5500's at first, but could not get them strapped solid enough without sticking them in with double-sided tape.

Are they legal for racing. My local track doesn't allow them.

It's mod 4wd... who cares if it has lipos. My local tracks dont' really care. It's not like a brushless system isn't fast enough without the lipos.

Explain that it's just a personal choice to run a single lipo rather than having to cut up several of your racing packs to make saddles... it's not about trying to get an advantage on the track.
