In electric, people at Socal have been running the truck fronts and rears(T4) on the smaller buggy chassis(B4)....looks pretty cool and sorta "truggy-ish."

I have seen this done as well. Even saw a guy somehow rig up 1/18 scale buggy tires and rims to his 1/10 scale buggy. Seemed to work better in the rough stuff.

But out here at least, the largest class is always nitro, and in the local city if a race is run, most of the guys run nitro vehicles so you are kind of forced into it if you want to have someone to race with.

people that know me.. i a clean ALL my r/c .... both can get dirty.. but nitro is way more dirty.... people pay me to clean there r/c .... and they own a hobby shop..

also if you like electric and like 1/8th buggy... put a brushless esc in it ..and i heard that it is faster then a nitro motor....

I have seen a MBX5 converted to electric. It was faster than a compairable buggy nitro motor and had over 15 minute runtimes also on one set of batteries. The conversion looked quite simple too. The guy just had a new motor mount machined to accept the brushless motor. The batteries were mounted on the left and right rear of the chassis and held in with velcro straps. The ESC and BEC/4.8 battery were on the front of the chassis just in front of the electric motor for excellent cooling. Was a very cool setup.

Let's compare Nitro and Electric by counting battery/packs needed to operate each!

Nitro
1. T/X battery pack
2. R/X battery pack
3. Starter box battery pack/s
4. Glow ignitor battery
5. Temp Gun Sensor battery
6. Stop watch battery to time fuel stops
Total of 6 or 7 battery packs to keep up with depending on how many starter box uses

Electric
1. T/X battery pack
2. Main battery pack for R/X and motor
Total of 2 battery packs

Summation of Nitro and Electric by battery requirements
Nitro's require alot more batteries than electric and require alot more battery maintence than electric!


Now let's count electric motors required to operate Nitro and Electric!

Nitro
1. Steering servo has an electric motor
2. Throttle/Brake servo has an electric motor
3. Starter box has a big electric motor
Total of 3 Electric motors to operate a Nitro

Electric
1. Steering servo has an electric motor
2. One Main Drive electric motor
Total of 2 Electric motors to operate Electric

Summation of Nitro and Electric by electric motor requirements!
Nitro's require 1 more electric motor to operate than electric.

Overall Summation of Nitro and Electric Comparisons
Nitro's have more batteries and more electric motors than electric RC's do which makes them kind of a Nitro/Electric Hybrid. Save all the hassle with more batteries and more electric motors to give problems along with having to find a pit man, all the tuning with a screw driver and a temp gun and let's not forget the famous starter box flame out shuffles that are downright hillarous watching the poor pit guy race out to get the upside down flame out back to the starter box and back into the race. NO THANKS on the NITRO and I don't care if it has to make smoke and noise to entertain a simple mind like a baby rattle does.

Give me a 1/10th 2wd Stadium Truck
1 8000 mah li-po battery (1 is all you need)
1 Novak GTB ESC and a 5.5 Brushless motor
1 Astro Flight 109 charger
I can get 30 to 40 minutes of non-stop, no pit man required, no comm cutting, no battery discharging, low maintence, plug and play of just as fast as nitro truck racing!

Our 1/10th scale 2wd Pro Truck class here in the Carolinas is growing very fast with our 20 minute mains. Look for them at the Farm II this year too!

from the 1st post, i bet u play EP and never race nitro before. great write up though. i should probably take all that craps and put into the blog.
this the way to explain the difference and pro&cons of each class. more please.

Actually I have been a reader off and on here for about 3 years. I have always posted on other sites and just decided to post on this one.

I have raced gas trucks, gas monster trucks, gas 1/8th scale buggies and even the gas truggy class, but I perfer the low maintence simplicity of the electric li-po brushless 2wd 1/10th scale Pro Truck class with 20 minute mains. Plug and play baby!!!!
