What is the best way of removing old tires off wheels so you can reuse the wheels?
Oh, and if possible a way that the wife won't get up me

yes get a five gallon with a lid that will snap airtight to it. a gallon of acetone and then cut the tires right along the beads so all you have is the wheel and the bead on it then soak them over night. the beads will fall right off. also you can save any foams that may still be good. also once you get them all done just leave the lid on and it will be there for next time. the lid does two things eliminates the smell and saves the acetone as it will eveporate if left open.

Boil them 10 min. let cool,pull tires off.

here is how i do it.

pre-heat the oven to 400
take a cookie sheet and put the tires on it.
after the oven pre heats turn it off and put the cookie sheet with tires on it in the oven for about 15-20 mins.
after that time pull them out of the oven and use a pair of gloves and just pull the tires off the rim.
if it doesnt come off right away put it back in the oven for another 10 mins then try again.

try to do this when the wife is not home so you have a chance to air it out a little so it dont smell like rubber.

those other ways work but your foams are gone. i run molded ones so i dont want them ruined.

You can use all the ways mentioned and still save the foams by carefully cutting the tire of the rim first...

Boil them...works great, wont hurt the foam. Acetone is a nasty chemical and eats things, the oven will smoke up the house. Boiling works best for me... Good luck!

I am wanting to sell one of my RC's on ebay soon and they tyres currently on there are gone, nothing left but I have near new tyres on another set of rims (different color etc.) can I boil them, pull the tyres off and put the tyres on the set of rims that I am selling?

I have used all of the above, the Acetone works the best!

I do the acetone method also. Very easy. Plunk the tires in the bucket. Walk away, come back in a day or so, the superglue is dissolved. I have found that it works better if it is warmer. Now that it is winter, it takes a few days, in the summer, one day will do it. My bucket of acetone is in an unheated storage building in my backyard......

I'd guess the guys that are baking the tires in the oven or boiling them are getting the smell from the starting line of a NHRA drag race in the house...... (burned rubber).... If you don't have a wife it's probably OK.....
