what turn motor should i use for a 1/10 4wd electric buggy? i was looking at team checkpoint 11 or 12 turn but wasnt sure if it would be fast enough. its on a very open high speed track. but it also has tight sectiosn and needs a little torque too. enough to spin the tires preferably. chances are i will be using a associated quantum speed control with it.

I'm sure anything decent and is 12 turns or less will be more than enough. If you really want torque, look at brushless systems such as the Novak 3.5R or the Mamba 5700. The Checkpoint motors are one of the best motors out there too, so I'm sure you will be very content with it.

i want a mamba system, but im doing a project in these motors for school and my other brushed motor crapped out. got a rock in it and the com is ruined. so i need a enw brushed motor and i figured i would just get one that will last and run it. id really liek to get just a cheap motor to use but im not sure if it will compare to a nice 17 turn. idk though. i can afford a very cheap motor and the mamba right now. but im nto sure if i want to do that. i think it would be easier to just go ahead and get a nice brushed motor. what you think? a associated v10 spec4 for $25 and a mamba system, or a checkpoint motor and a quantum speed control for a little less? i was thinking just the nice brushed system, but ill have to rebuild in a few weeks or so depending on how much i drive. where as if i get the mamba system and a cheaper motor, ill just run the motor a few times for the tests and the nwait till my current one in my truck craps out then put it in that.

Stomerhobbies is blowing out Epic shock motors right now for $48 each. I'd pick up a 10x2. Or if you are quite confident in your driving get a 8 or 9 turn. Checkpoint motors are very nice, long life and easy to work on (thats what I'm going to be running this season).

if i do go with a brushed motor i am going to probly get a checkpoint 11 or 12 turn. maybe 10. i think i am going with brushless though. i think ive made a change in the project. im still not sure though. thanks

You do know that you get 30 to 40 runs out of a checkpoint before they need a rebuild. Even on a 10T version.

yeah. and ill run up to 5 times a week. so i mean 2 months or so.

you didn't say what 4wd you're going to be putting it in, but a 10 turn orion motor in a bj4we is like buttah....fast and smoooooth buttah.

sorry its in a dark impact. ive read tons of people putting mambas in them and loving it. i was thinking a mamba and a slipper in mine would be awsome.

I don't know about the Mamba , ( that is the set up I will be running in my 4wd buggy) But I have heard that most of the Brushless motors just barely fit in the chassis of a Dark impact. Again I'm still new to the BL world and maybe its just a slight modding of the chassis to get it to fit. Actually now that I remember it was the wiring that was causing some problems . Basically there are a ton of wires and with the steering set up in that car most people were upset of not being able to get a "clean" look with all the wiring.

no they can be fit easily. there is a certain way you have to mount it though. works fien in it though. yes it is a tight fit, but it can be done.
