Dies when braking......
I have the high speed needle set right, and the low speed seems to be all set too, and the idle is set just so the wheels don't turn at idle.
BUT.....everytime I hit the brakes, the motor stops. What adjustment do I play with to fix this problem? Thanks, Steve |
When you put on the brakes does the carburetor close too? Fool around with the throttle/brake linkage.

Yes, that is what it is.
When I hit the brakes, it also closes the carb completely. I might have hit the linkage the other day, so I'm going to have to focus on that. I think it is a pretty simple fix.....just take a few minutes to figure out exactly what needs to be done. Steve |
Well, it turns out I didn't have to mess with anything at all. I have a setting in the radio that adjusts the brake-throw, and I had it set too far so it was closing the carb off. I adjusted that, and it runs fine now.
Thanks! Steve |

All right..........that didn't fix it.......LOL
It seems as though the carb is messed up a little. I put mine next to my buddy's brand new XXX-NT to compare the 2 of them. His carb slide is solid, doesn't move in and out. My carb slide has some in and out movement, and allows the linkage to close it off completely. Any ideas? If no one has any, I'll have to go the LHS and see what they think. Steve |
Well, I figured it out for sure today.
I had backed out the idle screw too far, and that allowed the carb cylinder to have complete in and out movement. I put it all back together right, and it is fine now. Steve |
