One more question: which large carrying bag do you guys think is best for off road vehicles? My Trinity mobile bag isn't wide enough for the truck or buggy even without the wheels on it. I don't care about taking the suspesion apart just to put them into a carrying case box...

Does the Integy large bag with 4 boxes have wide enough boxes to fit them into?

what header to use for racing.

Hay fellas, I just bought a Paris Nova RS12 R2 & need to know what type race header to use that will fit under the stock body & wont touch anything. It's going in my xxx-nt & it's rear exhaust.

Thanks

BigDog, You could try softening up the truck some (oil), as that should help with traction when you initially get on the throttle coming out of a corner. Too stiff makes it loose. I don't have any setups for truck for that type of track (well, any type really). Could also move the rear hubs forward .030" or all the way forward. That gives more forward bite. Also, adding anti squat will give more forward bite, but it will take away side bite. Try lengthening the rear camber link also (1-A maybe). You have to decide though if it's a traction issue from the front end or the rear end; is the front end overpowering the rear or is it just a lack of rear traction. Tres is right though- tires are going to make the biggest difference. T2000 or silver ifmar pins I would think would work well. See what others are using though.
As far as a bag goes- I'm not sure. I just use a tub I bought at some store and toss my cars on top of it. If the car ran good that day, it gets to ride home in the passenger seat of my car, if it ran poorly then in the trunk it goes!

#1 - To all the XXX-4 questions out there.....the car does exisist. Still no word on a production date but the car is going to be run at the worlds. Nobody would commit to saying that the car will or will not be produced but I wouldn't expect to see the car until at least after the worlds. If the car wins, right after the worlds, if it doesn't, expect a few months delay. Matt, Jukka and Brian had them at the Losi race. Matt won, Jukka second, and BK was 4th I think. This was with a car that they still hadn't figured out how to setup. It has most of the issues that I had with my xxx-s conversion addressed. The chassis is about 3/8" longer (stretched at the rear diff). It was still in testing but used XXX rear suspension and XX-4 front spindles and carriers with new front arms. It had .6 shocks in the front and .9's in the rear. The car has excellent corner speed and acceleration. Matt and Jukka had better luck with it than Brian. Note: The front of the car is very fragile right now. There are some changes that will need to be made to make it production. Jesse Robbers and I ran my car down there in practice and we also had front end failures so I decided against racing it.

BigDog - Like Jason, I don't run truck much. Brian Dunbar was experimenting with from some new front suspension geometry at the Losi race this past weekend. He and Brian Kinwald were talking about the what changes were needed and Dunbar decided to try it out. It showed promise to cure some of the issues you are talking about but is not quite right yet. Just as a hint to what Dunbar was working toward, try raising the front inner ballstud quite a bit. Compare the camber gain on a buggy to the truck and try to get them close to the same. As Trey said, tires are alot, setup is just as much in truck though. Pick the right tire first, then work on setup to cure any other issues. I will look up a XX-4 setup and post it later. At Florida this past weekend, I used a slightly altered version of Matt Francis' latest setup though (.078 rear swaybar setup).

DKJM3 - Trinty offers a header that has a tighter bend that will allow the body to clear the header. Not sure on the part number. Our hobbyshop has them. If I can remember, I will jot it down.

Thanks Skip- I haven't seen Matt's latest XX-4 set up unless it's the one that's been on the Losi site for a long time... I'll look.

One problem I'm going to have at the race is that they wet the track every once in a while... and it has lots of traction for the next 8 or 10 minutes- but then it dries out and gets loose again. I know for a fact that it like different tires when wet than dry.

Here's something I remembered from last fall that will tell you something about it- I went from out-of-the-box silver taper pins in the rear on the XX-4 WE to red X-2000's and it hooked up so much better in the rear that I had to lower the front ride height to get rid of some of the push- it still pushed, but was definately faster and more controllable.

Thanks again for all the help. I don't have any National level local off-road racers to help me over the knowledge slump that I'm at right now...

Dkj-M3 : I'm pretty sure that was me you talked to at HobbyTown friday.

Schumie: I will take a few better shots later today and post them.

Yoshi: The bodies on the factory cars were custom made and should be what the cars look like if they go to production. I had Matt and Jukka's cars in my hands for about 10 minutes each. The front arms and chassis are molded, no cobbled up prototype stuff. There are a lot of minor things changed, the steering being one, (moved forward). The only thing that did not look production ready were the pivot supports because they were still deciding on geometry. I am also guessing that the car will have molded towers, not sure though, the fiberglass towers had part #'s engraved in them. There are other less obvious things that nobody else has mentioned, I was asked not to say anything about them.

BigDog: Here is a setup, hope you can figure it out, this thing is a b!^(# to format text on.
This is close to what I ran in Florida. The oils changed slightly because of temperature.

--------------------------- Front ------- Rear ----- Comments
Spring------------------- Orange ---- Yellow --- Red front for more turn in
Piston-------------------- 56 ---------- 56
Oil------------------------ 27.5 -------- 30
Inner Limit-------------- .090 -------- .090
Outer Limit-------------- none ------- 2 pistons
Shock Mount Upper--- 2 ------------ 2
Shock Mount Lower--- inside ------ inside
Shims-------------------- N/A --------- hubs centered
Ride Height--------------bones (-)level
Sway bar---------------- none ------- .055 sway bar *
Camber Inner---------- 2------------ 8
Camber Outer--------- 2 washers- C front spindle top shaved
Camber Setting------- -1------------ -1
Toe--------------------- +1 ----------- CR rear end
Caster/Anti-squat --- Stock ------- 2 deg.
Ackerman/Bump ----- Wide -------- 0 wash
Diff/Drive axle -------- F & R - Plastic outdrive/Steel Dogbones
Tire --------------------- Red Taper -- Red Taper
Foam ------------------- firm rear ---- Bomb2 Soft
Chassis ---------------- Graphite
Battery ----------------- UltraMetal3000 Forward
Motor/Gear ------------ P-94 12x2 --- 20/84

Notes: Red X-2000 and Blockhead fronts to take some steering away on a grooved track. Indoor track, change to Pink or Silver tires usually.

*.055 sway bar is custom bent from .055 piano wire and mounted to the rear tower through the # 2.5 camber mount positions
