Thanks wheel nut one more question for you guys out there.

Is it in the works for the future to legalize the use of Lipo batteries at sanctioned races and tracks?

The technology is here for us and it's ashame to not put it to use.

Roar races are far away for most people to run. If you want to club race then go for the LiPo. We run 10 minute mains in electric 4wd. Lots of fun.

That was my plan and when I had osted on the local forum we have here in my area for club races a guy piped in and said Lipos wasn't legal not sure if he's a track owner or what but I know the tracks ain't roar sanctioned so it shouldn't even matter unless he's the track owner and he makes the rules.

Its one thing to have an expert racer charging these.
But would you want 8 year old billy to be charging a bomb beside
you in the pits
That would be a pretty big risk for most tracks.

ROAR is looking into making Lipo's legal at ROAR sanctioned events, but it may be another year or so. Not so sure Lipo's will make it for the 2007 season, but maybe for 2008. I know at our track they are getting more and more poplular and we run them in the modified onroad races.

Lipo's are not even under consideration for 2007 approval by ROAR....especially in light of the whole move to 4 cell debate, which will further inhibit the chance of lipo being legal......as they can't make a 4.8 volt version....

You saying that ROAR is looking into reducing cells from 6 cell to 4 cell?

I just can't see this happening That be like having a Ferrari with a Kia engine in it. For as many yrs as I can remember off road racing has always been 6 cell actually back then mod could use 7 cells, I just don't see that being cut back to 4 I could be wrong as I've been out of the loop for some time now. Might as well go back to 700 MiH packs like in the beginning.

Well, I don't agree with the proposed change either.....but its something all of the IFMAR blocks are looking at.....there is a thread on RCtech about it.....

And believe it or not, its not a massive difference from 4 to 6 cells...Run a 1/12th with 6, then switch to 4.....lap times aren't very far off....

So its more like going from a Enzo to a F430.....
