Default Tekin Question

Hey guys, I have the 4 wire Tekin G11 and I had a couple of questions. Is the G11 supposed to have the solder posts like the Pro? On the one I got you have to solder the wires through the circuit board like an LRP or Novak. Also seems you have to remove the bottom case half to get to the black batt wire. It's not that big a deal, but I had to replace the wires it came with with longer ones and since the stocks wires are a little thin, I had a hard getting the 14 ga wire in the hole...I had to hold the iron on longer than I like and a lot of rosin seemed to flow off the board, although it doens't seem damamged and works good (much smoother than a QC2). It still had me kinda worried I overheated the board. Second what is the best way to fit this speedo in a BJ4WE? The QC2 fits well behind the RX, but the G11 seems a bit big. Do you mount the RX on its side or over by the motor? Thanks.

NO, the 4-wire G11 is not supposed to have the solder posts. Sounds like your OK. Although I wouldn't worry about the gauge of wire. If you changed it because of the supposed higher resistance of thinner wire, there is really not need to. The difference is definately not noticable, especially in offroad where runtime is generally not an issue anyway. When I run that speedo in my sedan, I run the wires that come on it with no problems. If you are going to be running low wind mod motors, I would recommend you also use a power cap on the battery like the Novak speedos come with or that is an option for the QC2. This gives a little extra protection to the speedo.

Hey, now that indoor offroad is officially dead at Hobby Action, are you going to come out to SRS to race?

Yeah, probably start coming out on Saturdays. My and another guy are gonna try and get a 4WD(our favorite) class going and I'll probably also run 2wd stock or mod...dunno yet. Maybe truck too...we'll see.

Cool. My son has a ZX-5 and I have a Tamiya Dark Impact (still learning to drive it) so we can probably get enough 4wds.
Is the other guy a Hobby Action racer also?
