Heya Guys

I am looking for a 1/8th steering servo recommendation. I usually use KO for my EP offroad, but am new to 1/8th.

Anyways i any ideas would be great

Airtronics 94358z. Good balance of speed and power 200 oz and .10 @60* rated at 6 volts. If you run lipos and like a TON of speed and good power JR makes a nice digital servo but I can't remember the # right now. It is a power HOG though.

Sorry but I am not very farmilar with KO stuff in 1/8scale. But if they make something with around the same specs as the airtronics it should be fine. Well, as long as it has metal gears!!!

I'm building up a truggy and using these non-digital KO servos

steering : PS-2174 High Torque : 166oz / .13
throttle : PS-2173 High Speed : 111oz / .09

These are metal geared throughout. If you want digital you're looking for these:

steering: PDS-2366 : 180oz / .13
throttle: PDS-2365 : 111oz / .08

They have heat sink cases too.

It's been my experience that KO servo specs are under rated, they seem to be faster and have more torque than they print on the box.

I'm a huge fan of the JR digital servo line! Good stuff.

Buggy Steering 8800T or 9000T is what I'd use.

i have a 94360 on my buggy...but it almost seems a little weak...but a 94358 is certainly an excellent choice...thats my backup steering servo...

or the JR 650M its about $50 and i ran it while my 94358 was in the shop...i didnt really see a difference it has a ton for the buck...

I have a good friend who's bought several JR servos because they have a great warranty...but he has one dead one here at my house, one supposedly coming back from JR (one hour of use, dead, and they didn't want to warranty it, one of the $$$ digital servos)...another one took a shit the other night at the track. That's 3 dead JR dervos

Meanwhile, never had one Airtronics or KO servo go out on me ever. I keep telling him...LOL...the 358 he has in his truggy works great, but the warranty is shorter...LOL

I've had (2) 358's lock up and Airtronics service is POOR at best. The worst one, it was still in warranty yet Airtronics offered to fix it at 50% MSRP, which is like $10 less than IN STORE pricing. Little did they know it was a throttle servo and ended up taking my old truck for a long ride and overheating the engine as well as some good damage when it hit a fence pole to stop.

I've had the same JR 8550 steering my Jammin for over a year now. I also ran it in the Kyosho's i had the previous 2 seasons (not run every weekend tho), so i'd say i probably have at least 12 - 15 gallons thru it I had an 8450 bite the dust this past weekend (throttle) which i got in late 2001. almost 5 years is a pretty dialed investment if you ask me...

His last JR that failed a week or so ago (second one in that car...) was a throttle servo and it ran away as soon as it started...just went to thalf throttle and stayed there.

You know you can get the metal gears for the 358s, right? I think they're $8 for two from A-Main. They're all metal gears at that point...if you break them, you deserved it.

Yeah...JR offered to fix his at 50% retail, too...LOL...one hour old...LOL. I've never had a problenm with Airtronics service. I had an issue with an MX-3 and they were great to deal with...free and quick service.

if you are having problems with a JR service your hobbyshop should be able to take care of it. anything you buy with warranty is no better than the shop that you purchased it from. i have a hobbyshop and deal with them all the time and i have only had a problem 1 time and it was on a digital servo(9000s) and they thought that the user burnt the motor out by not having the end points set correctly or just misuse. i told them that he had it on the throttle/brake and it only lasted for 3 practice runs and 1 heat race before locking up. they replaced it without any problems.

JR/Horizon has great service, and your hobbyshop should take care of it for you.

Hey Guys.

OK i have a spare KO 2173 which is .09 and 111oz a Futaba 9451 .10 and 120oz and i also have a JR 8425 (8411) .15 and 160oz.

Which of these 2 of these would you recommend to use and where?? steering or throttle?

with a 8th buggy as long as you are over a 100oz tork and .10 sec. and under your fine. .15 is to slow if you try to correct the rear end from sliding you need the speed to keep up with your reflexes.

Nope...he's REALLY tight with the people at the store...and like most everything else that comes through Horizon, it's warrantied directly through Horizon. I've had really great service on my Spektrum system, but it wasn't the case this time with the servo. They blew him off...the store called and rasied some stink and JR gave in and took care of it.

It had been installed in a new car, he used it to break in the motor and the first time he set it down on the track, the servo was dead. They said the same thing...end points, abuse, blah, blah...that's bull. He couldn't have smoked it and the end points were set properly the night the car went together. The thing had an hour on it and had never touched the dirt...POOF...and they blew off the customer. Inexcuseable in my book...but I'm not saying anything...I'm just saying...LOL...
